I have a Savage .308 which is a few years old and it is a tack driver. I would never hesitate buying any Savage rifle. They may not be the prettiest but they sure are accurate.

Last Thanksgiving when one of my son's was visiting from Colorado he and his siblings presented me with a Savage Model 340 in 30/30 that is an exact match for one my dad had back in the 50's. This gun is in prime condition and I hope to "tag" with it this year.

The thing that gets me about this video is the fact that all three persons on the hunt thought it was perfectly safe to take the shot of the animal on the ridge line. That shot is a definate "NO, NO" as far as Hunter Safety goes here in the state of Maine.

I'd use a .308 for any animal in North America. Good range, shoots flat, moderate recoil. I have a Savage Model 11 in that caliber.

I've had the 6x30's for about three years now and I love them. With my triple vision glasses I had a lot of trouble with the compact style binoculars. These are not so large as to be cumbersome and are very clear and bright. I just don't seem to need anything more thanthese.

Take a look at the Marlin bolt actions in .270. Very good value and very accurate

I've been most successful with my Savage Model 11 in .308Win. My favorite carry gun has been a Marlin 336 in 30/30. I've just been given a 1954 Savage Model 340 in 30/30 that I am anxious to take a whitetail with. My dad carried one of these 55 years ago.
