Heh! I paid $75 for my GI M1911A1 back in 1971. They're good investments and mine didn't require a butt-load of enhancements.

Why own a M1911A1? There's no reason not to own one. To be the "pistol-parent" of a M1911A1 is to be blessed by God. You own a M1911A1 for the same reason you should own a Katana. Because if you never owned one, you would never have the pure pleasure of handling one and knowing it...

Mine was/is a M1911A1 bought 41 years ago. I will never sell the beloved M1911A1.

I own a Glock 19, a beloved M1911A1, an HK 45C, and just recently purchased a Springfied XD 45ACP. I'd recommend the XD because of the grip safety. It also shoots great and funstions perfectly.

I've got a pre-WWII (1937) Kar98. Its a Russia-capture but a former student cleaned it up to near presentation grade.

My oldest is a Mauser 1895 that I purchased to use as a prop for a World History class I was teaching. Never shot, cleaned it up and refinished the stock. Added an appropriate bayonet and sling, makes a nice wall-hanger.

None of the above. Check out Texas. No state income tax, good economic conditions, gun-friendly political situation. Hot in the summer, but good Tex-Mex food and good beer.

Many, many years ago when I was on my state's Composite National Guard M14 team, I would practice wearing the same uniform I'd wear during competition shoots. I practiced off-hand/standing, kneeling, and prone positions complete with magazine changes. I hope I didn't come off as a mall...

I've owned a Glock19 since 1996. Very dependable, fun to shoot. Good concealed carry weapon. Enjoy.

Just purchased an XD 45ACP this week. Does absolutely I want a .45ACP pistol to do. Hate the crappy plastic holster and mag carrier. My HK45C a rest. You'll enjoy the XD.
