    Browning?

I've shot my buddy's 20g BPS when we were shooting trap one day. It swung and pointed really well, but I did not like where the action bar release was. I think that was the biggest downfall in my opinion. But if you were using it as a hunting gun, I think it would really be nice. Anybody...

    870 express

You could use an 870 as a boat paddle if you needed to, that's how durable they are. My Express was filthy as can be when I brought her home and after a long, thorough cleaning, she was ready to go. It took about 100 rounds of trap shooting to get her to cycle smoothly. I had a few hang ups...

    Elk gun

I think the .30-06 makes the most sense in your position. You're already setup for it, so you're familiar with the cartridge and have probably done a bit of shooting with it. Plus, given that the '06 is one of the most common cartridges of all time, you can find it anywhere in case you find...

Carrying extra ammo for tubular magazines

That's a pretty sweet piece of awesomeness there. I'll definitely have to pick one of those up when I'm getting some range time in. As far as hunting with my .22 I always load up the tube with 15 and carry an extra box of 50 in my pocket. Squirrels beware!

    cheap mods to A-bolt

I'm with garrett1955, my A-Bolt 30-06 shoots under a quarter at 100yds. I don't plan on doing any changes to it since its my hunting rifle. The only thing I would possibly do is lighten the trigger some.

    Best .22 for $250 & Under

I'm not really wild about having young kids with auto-loaders in their hands. I would look into getting the CZ 452 Scout for a few reasons. I don't know how big your little guys are, but the Scout is a bit smaller than the 60 and it might fit them better. Its a single shot bolt action rifle...

    Wife gives/allows you 2k

I'd buy another M70, but in 30-06 and put a Leupold VX-III 1.5-5x20 on top. As already stated, a very versatile cartridge with more than enough power to take all North American game. The scope size is definitely personal preference, but most people are ridiculously overpowered today. Pick...

First real hunting rifle, may take to Africa eventually - is this a good one?

Like mentioned before, when you're actually out on the hunt, you won't even have time to comprehend the above, but at home when you're practicing it will make a difference. The heavier the gun the easier it will be to stabilize the shot, but you'll most likely be shooting from a rest anyways so...

    .357/.38 ammo cost

hello everybody i've been shooting my dad's glock 23 for a while now and i enjoy it. the ammo seems to me to be reasonable ($15 for winchester 180gr white box) i think for just dorkin' around. so to the point, i've been set on getting a 686 for quite a while now and i was close to...

Pricing on an A-Bolt and suggestions on a scope

I think you're getting MCgunner and myself confused. But to address your comment anyways... the reason I was interested in talking about the Bushnell vs. Leupold is that when I searched for opinions on the VX-II, the Elite 3200 seemed to be a scope heavily recommended. As far as the...

Pricing on an A-Bolt and suggestions on a scope

I've been looking to buy a nice hunting rifle and I have handled quite a few different bolt action rifles by some of the well known companies. Out of the rifles I handled I liked the fit, feel, features, and looks of the A-Bolt Medallion. I think the 30-06 cartridge will suit my needs just...
