seeking recommendations: AR-15 free float forend tubes

The Finished Product Here's how it came out. Besides the JP Free Float Hand Guard, other upgrades/additions to the Rock River LAR-15 include an Aimpoint red dot sight, a Leapers UTG folding low-profile vertical fore grip, a BCM "Gunfighter" Charging Handle and a Spectre 3-point Sling. That...

    What a Conundrum

AR It's okay to have two 1911s. But I'd buy the second after getting my first AR, if I had it to do over again. Which I don't. :banghead: Still I don't mind having two 1911s and an AR.

Thanks, Again. Thanks, again, to everyone who posted on this thread. I wound up going with the JP Enterprises. I obviously couldn't follow all the great advice you all provided, but I feel like you made it possible for me to make an informed decision that I'm confident I'll be happy with...

seeking recommendations: AR-15 free float forend tubes

Wow! Thanks to all respondents. These are far more and better options than what I had expected or hoped to find. Right now, the JP is looking really good to me (thanks for posting the pic, 68wj), but then so do the Midwest Industries, Daniel Defense, Samson, Troy and DPMS; so I'm a long way from...

seeking recommendations: AR-15 free float forend tubes

I recently took delivery on a Rock River "holiday special" and am very happy with everything about it ... except, I would not have put a quad rail on it had I had the option to go with a tube-style handguard instead. (Well, I suppose I did, but not on that package, so that option would likely...

What, are iron sights diseased or something?

nominating this for simplest, most direct solution (though I guess if you're imagining yourself also having to schlep everything you're keeping across the plains of Megiddo, the extra weight could make the apocalypse even more of a bummer).

What, are iron sights diseased or something?

Ruger Gunsite Scout The Ruger Gunsite Scout has iron sights, plus a forward-mounted picatinny for a scope, in fact, I think they probably had Jeff Cooper in mind when they designed it (although I guess it's about .4 lb overweight, per the good colonel's specs). Of course, the BLR is a nice...

    Long-range coyote

sorry, just have to ask ... sorry, I just have to ask, was the one you hit the one you settled on, or an innocent bystander? but all kidding aside, congratulations on a great shot and good riddance to one more coyote.

    Best rifle caliber around?

voted .308, but ... I probably shoot more 7.62x39. I feel like the .308 is the better hunting round (white-tail deer). But the 7.62x39 (through a mini-30) is handy and fun and plenty good enough for coyote.

    Contacting Congresscritters

appeal to Democrats those of you who can write to democratic legislators, and especially those who can honestly identify yourselves as Democrats, it is especially important that you write to those legislators to let them know that you are a vote that they cannot afford to lose

    Contacting Congresscritters

what I sent my delegation While I agree with CoRoMo that it is better not to simply "copy/paste the talking points or sentences you see that someone here put together," we should keep in mind that most of us that most us will be writing to different congressional delegations; so there probably...

I really like my Scout. Went rail heavy on a G3 clone (PTR-91 KFM4) prior to that and found myself replacing the 3-rail hand guard with a rail-less one. It wasn't that the rails weighted all that much, it was more that -- with the rails, the stuff I put on the rails, the ammo, some water and...
