Need help identifying odd bolt action

Possibly, but the way it was drilled and tapped throws me for a loop. Trying to find some mounts that have the right hole spacing. I could certainly make them, but if there's something around that works, it'd save me some time.

Need help identifying odd bolt action

A customer of mine brought in this very nice, but odd, bolt action rifle. At first glance it appeared to be a J.P Sauer - Weatherby MKV, but the tapped holes for the scope mounts threw me for a loop. It could, of course, be a custom job, but it also looks similar to a couple of Voere actions...

    Release agent + synthetic stocks

Yeah, it came with the gel kit so I figured I'd give it a shot. Whoops. I'll try vinegar and see what that does.

    Release agent + synthetic stocks

In the process of pillar bedding a 700 in a Bell and Carlson stock, I accidentally got a bit of Brownell's flammable release agent on the stock. The stuff is awfully resiliant, and after about twenty minutes of rubbing on it with a rag w/acetone, there's still a faint glossy sheen to the stock...

    .338 Whisper + M1A?

Oh I know I'm not reinventing the wheel here, SDC, I'm just interested in utilizing a different action. The .338 Whisper v2 is based off of the 7mm BR case, so it'd be too big for a .223 bolt face, Axxel. And Leon, .338 Federal isn't inherently subsonic. I haven't seen anyone load it subsonic...

    .338 Whisper + M1A?

Right. I figure I'd have to turn down the barrel contour back to where I can put the piston head closer to the action, then adjust the length of the operating rod. Combined with some degree of tuning the recoil spring and playing with the size of the gas port, I can't think of any reason why it...

    .338 Whisper + M1A?

As I was sitting around mulling over all the various toys I can't afford right now, of which there are many, I started thinking about the .338 Whisper v2 AR-10s made by SSK Industries. Then, for whatever reason, I started thinking about M1As in EBR stocks, and I got to thinking about a happy...

J.L Galef and Sons Companion Shotgun Manual

I've recently been asked to procure a manual for this common and mass produced shotgun, and have yet to be able to find one, nor a assembly/disassembly manual that pertains to it. The one I have is a J.L Galef, not a true Beretta FS-1, though I can't imagine they vary drastically, if it all. If...

Para GI Expert + Ambi Safety

I'd assumed some degree of fitting would be required. I figured when they're churning these things out the parts from one gun to another have to have be relatively close, wasn't sure of the degree of adjustment involved. I'll figure it out when the parts come in. On an unrelated subject, I'm...

Para GI Expert + Ambi Safety

While I have never messed around much with the Para 1911s, I have to imagine that retrofitting a GI Expert to have an ambidextrous safety shouldn't be too involved of an operation, should it? Simply a matter of switching out the safety levers for parts from one of their ambi-safety models?

    HK 94 Refinish

I'm into a refinish on a HK 94, and I'm trying to come up with a good red and white paint to color in the engraved sections on the receiver to designate the safety positions. Anyone ever find a good product to use for this? I'm leaning towards laying down the black first, then taping it up...

    Mossberg 590 feed issues

Having gotten the cartridge stop/interrupter to the point that they disengage at the right time, I'm noticing that the carrier isn't dropping far enough down to clear the case rim. Is it conceivable that this dimension could have changed over time, and if so, can the carrier's arms be bent a...

1911 w/ insufficient firing pin fall

It's a STI frame with an unmarked slide, series 70. I can mic the dimensions of the firing pin channel if that helps.

1911 w/ insufficient firing pin fall

Weird. Maybe I'll just swap out the pin and knock half a coil off the return spring. We'll see. Thanks much.

1911 w/ insufficient firing pin fall

Pin protrusion from the stop plate to the back of the pin is .022", but the stop thickness is only .1215". I hesitate to surface grind any more off the back, as it's already a bit looser than I'd like in the slide. If anyone could mic the OAL of their firing pins for comparison, I'd...
