I guess my eyes are changing because focusing on the front and rear sight and the 3.5 inch black circle is a bit sketchy at 100 yards. I use to shoot the end of a coke can at 90 steps with open sights on a .177 pellet gun. But that was 20 years ago. Lol
I've thought about getting a ghost ring sight or peep sight. I've heard some people complain about the peep sights in the woods trying to find the deer. Lol. The ghost ring maybe be the best of both worlds. My shots were with the original buckhorn sights. I'm out of practice with my iron...
I shot 3 rounds in about a 6 inch circle at 100 yards. My gun is shooting high but the rear sight is on the second to last notch. There are six more elevation adjustments. I'm curious how far the open sights will reach out. The paper plate in the picture was shot at 100 yards.
My 20 year old Tasco scope died the other day, so I decided to sight in the open sights on my Marlin 3030. What group size should I expect at 100 yards? I know this varies depending on the shooter, but what do you guys think is an achievable shot group ?
I took one of the magazines apart and it really wasn't dirty. I put it back together like the video jmoris posted and it fired all 10 shots without a problem. I think the spring was too tight.
I have a Ruger Red Hawk 44 magnum that I purchased in the late 90's. I recently noticed the front sight wiggles just slightly. Is this normal ? The sights are original. I never really paid attention to it in the past. I have shot over 1000 rounds through it over the years and wondered if all...
Thanks for the info guys. I think the military guns are safe from me. Lol. It doesn't make sense to spend that much money for sub par accuracy when used or new hunting guns are the same price. I have a FN action that needs to be built anyway. I do have a nice M96 that is original but I may...
I would like to sporterize one but if the price is to high I might as well buy a new gun. It's been a while since I even priced them. I have walked by a lot of good guns over the years. Hind sight is 20/20 though. Lol. I was smart enough to pick up a M96 back when they were $130 though.
How accurate are 7.62x54 Mosin Nagants ? I've seen a lot of people talking about them and sporterizing them and was wondering how accurate one would be for hunting?
