    *Old* Shotgun Shells Safe?

The paper shells can "swell" over time. So either check them with calipers or pull your barrel and drop them in to make sure they're within spec. If they're still the right size, shoot and enjoy. After you shoot the paper shells, check out the smell in the air, much different than modern...

you know what my pet peeve is?

Poor management at your local Cabelas. Employees should be instructing customers where to safely point a gun before handing it over. Sure not everybody pays attention to that, but it solves 99% of problems. One of my local gun-shops has animal mounts throughout the store in safe spots, that...

    The .22 lr

It's not that you don't like shooting your .22s, it's that you haven't found the right .22 yet. Keep buying, selling, and trading, as long as you're not losing money on it, eventually the right one will find you. The right .22 for me is a Henry lever action, got it for $120 lightly used, and a...

    Preferences buying once fired brass

Rifle brass, I'll pay a little more or "clean" brass off the ground, I'll take "dirty" but the price better be right since it'll dirty up my media and take longer to clean. Also, if it's being sold by weight, the price needs to drop if it's dirty, not willing to pay "brass" prices for the dirt...

    .44 Magnum brass unavailable

Sounds like you mite be taken care of, but keep in eye on Startline and Missouri Bullet. MBC has started selling Starline brass, and both sources have had it come and go a few times recently.

    5.56 brass

165 gallons of 5.56 brass could be broken into smaller quantities and sold for a huge profit. I'd pick it up in a heartbeat.

Bullet shape for 30-30 Tubular Magazine?

That Hornady #3035 is what I load for my lever guns, with some IMR 3031 behind them. Great round IMHO! Soft shooting and accurate, and as a side benefit, they're pretty cheap too.

    Boresnake versus Patches

Am I the only one who uses a boresnake over and over and over, never cleans it and always has a perfectly clean barrel after I'm done? Put a little Hoppes #9 on there and run it through.

    Boresnake versus Patches

.50-CAL patches are too small for anything but a .410 and maybe a 28ga. The cheap thing to do is get a mop for your correct bore size, but a boresnake is really the best I've found. That said, unless it's a finicky gas operated auto, I wouldn't even bother. I run about 1500 rounds between...

Two more SxS added to my safe

That's a fantastic trio! Need to add a few more SxSs to the stable, thanks for reminding me...

    4 holes or 5 ?

With how mangled the paper is between the top hole and the one just right of the bull, I suspect that your 5th round landed somewhere in there, if that flap were falling back that would explain the lack of grease marks. Seems less likely, though still possible, that it's 2 rounds through the...

    Fast vs. slow powders

At the end of the day, a good powder for ______ round, is a good powder for that round no matter the barrel length. Generally speaking anyway. IMHO, it's best to give a somewhat general answer to a general newbie question like "What's the best powder for .357?". The reality is, the perfect...

    9mm brass?

You've gotta shoot a lot of lead to justify buying a new barrel for a Glock rather than just spending the tiny fraction more and using plated bullets. That said, the drop-in Storm Lake barrels for Glocks really change those guns. The difference in accuracy is stunning.

    A THR knife PICTURE thread?!?!

This week's Benchmade purchase, low quality cell phone pictures, I'll get some better ones eventually. I really like the Torrent as an EDC, been carrying various Ken Onion designed CRKT and Kershaws, the Kershaws have turned to junk as of late, love the shape and size of my CRKT Ripple, but...

How much brass do you need and how do you organize it?

I hand sort, and use plastic bins I get at Target. They sell them in multiple colors, helps me keep my dirty/tumbled/match brass identifiable. They're about $3/each. I hand sort when I get home from the range, and have an "everything else" bin. The common calibers I don't shoot get their own...
