I've shot several different weapons systems ranging from 5.56 NATO to the deafening 50 BMG with these in. One of our range days was about 8 hours behind 7.62's and the 50's and I no adverse effects from it.
In a stand, I'd leave one out until right before I took a shot.
"Is it worth the extra money for a DW or should I spend the money I'd save with a cheaper one on ammo or something for the cheaper 1911 or other things?"
I'd go for the less expensive Springer and spend the extra on ammo.
I have carried both a full sized 1911 (with a rail no less) and a subcompact XD. With that said, here is my $0.02 on accuracy. As long as I can put two shot in an area the size of a mans chest, that's all the accuracy I need. If you do have to present your weapon, your adrenaline is going to...
Thanks for the info. I had not even thought about the springs. I have no idea how much use this thing has seen. As for the American Eagle ammo, that seems to be the brand I have the least amount of problems with. :(
With the Schmidt and Bender I shoot with on mine at work, we zero @ 100 yards and use the Mil-Dots for range estimation and quicker target acquisition. Not sure on the scope mount, but I'll take a look at it next time we pull them out.

It's the Deerfield Mini-14 type. At first I was having problems with the bolt cycling at all. I tore the rifle down as far as I could and cleaned every part I could get a Q-tip into. That fixed some of the issues. I am now getting 1 or 2 Failure to Eject per 4 round mag. I've tried several...
Mine has been nothing but problematic since I picked it up. But after hearing the way you guys have talked about the rifle, I may just hang on to it and see if I can get the bugs worked out. Thank you all for saving me the regret I would undoubtedly feel down the road.
I have one that has been used on hogs in South East Texas. I love the power of the round but I've had FTF and FTE issues with mine. I think it stands to note, it is a rotary magazine type.
