aside from numbers bragging, what is the difference in 100 +/- FPS or ftlb's of energy at xxx distance? :scrutiny: if you are shooting at a distance that the extra energy is absolutely neccessary, then it's probably too far away..

sorry, am totally biased to remington 870's. had a 20 gauge cantilever and could hit a 10" square steel swing target at 225 yards 4 out of 5 times consistently. 20's recoil less and have plenty of oomph for deer out to 150 yards. (yes, i've killed them that far with a 20):scrutiny:

I've taken my AR-50 out to a few dog towns just for poops and grins. it's kinda cool being on the side of a mountain and seein dust clouds where a prarie dog used to be 800 yards away.

Prarie dogs I've "dinged dogs" in co, wy, mt, nd & sd. the thing i would suggest is a heavy barrel .22-250. I use a remington xr-100 topped by a 6.5-20 burris fullfield2. I've hit them as far as 450 yards and as close as 15 feet. just be sure to have LOTS of ammo and water with you as you can...
