"About the third time mine fell off, I put the lid back on the tube, dug out a couple of O-rings that were a tight fit on the tube and slipped them on to back it up. It hasn't fallen off since."
Good fix. Yeah, the lid on the spent primer jar is a pain. I just got out the blue painter's tape...
The Frankford Arsenal loading labels are great. They peel off easily when the box of ammo is done. That's the best part. If they're not available, blue painter's tape works too. It is designed to peel off easily.
To piggyback onto his question, Alliant e3 and Steel also seem to be often available. Anyone use them for metallic cartridge loading? I don't need it, just wondering.
"I just hold the pan up close to or against the drop tube. Havent spilled any yet."
Tried that for years. The rim on my pan has a small spout. No matter how I held it against the base of the upper part of the press a few grains managed to spill/bounce out. The pill bottle is deep and wide...
Powder Throw Catcher
When setting up my Uniflow powder measure I like to throw 10 charges and weigh that for pistols, or 5 charges to weigh for rifle cases. Throwing the powder into the small pan that comes with the scale always results in powder grains spilling over or bouncing out of the...
Light 44Mag Loads
5.6 grains of Red Dot under a 250 LSWC is very easy to shoot in a 6" model 29. Light loads in a .44Mag are fun. It's an accurate round, and the light loads don't beat up me or the gun. I'm experimenting with several other powders under a 200 LRN, so I'll let you all know how...
"Best" Do-all Setup
A "manual-progressive" machine is probably the greatest thing you could get. No silly linkages or contraptions on it that make it look like a Rube Goldberg production, nothing to break, easy to stop at any stage and check/QC things, and will still load any caliber up to 200...
AA#2 is a great powder for .38/357. 3.6-4 grains under a 158 bullet will get you ~665-756 fps. An additional benefit is that AA#2 is insensitive to position of the powder in the case, making it ideal for light loads in big cases. Check the Accurate website for the full .38 Special listing.
