    low recoiling factory ammo

Look for something sub-sonic. Most of the 147 grain 9mm are sub-sonic anyway. There is also some practice ammo by Winchester that is supposed to be low-recoil, W-Train. It's right at 950 fps anyway...

AR Builds -- What Parts Did You Choose and Why??

Because I'm located in the Palmetto State, I was very pleased to find PSA, and endeavored to build two AR's using all PSA parts. Due to political winds blowing foul, certain shortages arose during the build. So I reached out to Bravo Company for a couple of parts and looked to Brownells for...

    Scope ring screw

Thanks for the responses, I have an email sent to Burris customer service a few days ago. But I appreciate the information. I really don't want to buy a screw assortment just for one piece.

    Scope ring screw

I somehow managed to lose one of the torx head ring screws on my Burris Zee ring set. What is my best option for getting a replacement? I see Brownells and Midway both sell screw assortments, but I just need one.

    Most durable scope base

I think if you want inexpensive, go Weaver base and rings. Nice- weaver bases and Burris Zee rings. Fine- Talley. But making sure your screws and holes are degreased, use one drop of blue Loc-tite, and proper torque on all the screws. Just about any name brand mounting system will be just fine.

    Rem 700 ADL Rehab question

I got the barrel squeaky clean, mounted a new Bushnell Legend Ultra HD 4.5-14 on it (pretty wordy model name, isn't it?) and got it sighted in after a couple fouling shots. I shot three groups of three, the first was 1.3", second .54", third .50". I'm not sure I can hold and shoot the rifle any...

best excuse for today's poor shooting

I think my right eye decided to let my left eye be dominant for awhile.

    Rem 700 ADL Rehab question

I like your story. There are lots of practical people who advise against putting too much money into a project like this and they make perfect sense. I guess I am looking for the enjoyment of choosing some great parts and being there to see the final product perform.

    Rem 700 ADL Rehab question

I have the same wood stock, curved plastic buttplate etc...I am slowly working on making it a shooter. I'll probably use it to teach myself how to do glass bedding and other things. A question- the info I have seen on lapping lugs shows a fixture that presses against the bolt with the barrel...

    Rem 700 ADL Rehab question

I bought a new Dewey cleaning rod, a couple nylon brushes and some Montana Extreme copper cleaner. The first thirty minutes of cleaning made me think it had never been cleaned before. I have alternated between copper cleaner and nylon brush scrubbing, and Shooters Choice with the brass brush and...

6.5x55 vs all the newer 6.5's

That's what I was thinking. I am not planning to hot rod the Swede, but just coax it into better ballistics than the loading manuals give. Thanks!

6.5x55 vs all the newer 6.5's

I suppose that's true, but as a child would ask- why? Is it consideration for older actions, or brass design, or what, exactly? I suppose I can load incrementally until I see pressure signs...

6.5x55 vs all the newer 6.5's

I'm curious about the loadings (factory and load manuals) that always have the Swede as the weak sister to all the newer cartridges. I know the case capacity is several grains of water higher than either the 260 Rem or 6.5 CM. For those of you that load this caliber, doesn't it make sense that...

    Rem 700 ADL Rehab question

Great advice here. I thought I had cleaned it thoroughly, using wipe out and shooters choice copper cleaner, but after hearing about your cleaning efforts, I'll give that another go. I have checked the scope mounts for tightness, the rings and action screws too. I have an older Nikon 3-9x40 on...

    Rem 700 ADL Rehab question

I love the idea of a custom rifle, I've been looking for barrel makers that also do gunsmith work. Hoping to get it rebarreled, then placed in a decent stock. Money is of course an issue, but I'm just trying to be wise, not a spendthrift. Of course this is a hobby, and men's toys just cost...
