Nice work and the rifle looks like it just came out of the box. Provides hope for those of us who dont want to have a Proof barrel installed every season. Thanks!
Morning All! I am looking at building a 6.5 on a remington 700 long action. I have narrowed it down to .260AI, 6.5PRC or 6.5x55 Improved and I am leaning towards the 6.5x55. My problem is that I am am seeing 6.5x55 Ackley Improved, 6.5x55 BJ AI (Bob Jourdan Ackley Improved) and regular 6.5x55...
Got a new to me 308, 18" barrel. I have some Hndy 150gr FMJ/BTs to try, does anyone have any experience with 3031 in an AR10? I have other powders but the 3031 is sort of extra since I do not shoot much 30-30 anymore.
Thanks!
Just picked up a TC Pro Hunter in 300 Win Mag. I was really after the frame but since my other Contender barrels do not fit the Encore line and the barrel was relatively inexpensive I decided to pick it up too. I would like to load rounds that are closer to 308 Winchester rather than getting...
I did a search on Franchi and SKB. Big price jump but they seem to be much nicer. Is there a model number I should steer clear of? What about the multiple barrel models? I have heard that some of these doubles use a 12GA frame even for 28 and 410 which would make for a very heavy 410. I see lots...
So then the Mossberg might be a good choice? I have seen a single gauge for around $500 but know where I can get a 20ga & 28ga combo for $720. I will look into it further, I really would like choke tubes and I am not sure that the Moss uses tubes under 20ga. It would be really nice if I could...
Thanks for the info!
I ran across an 1100 Special Field with the 21" remchoke barrel a year or so ago and bought it to make a 3-gun shotgun out of. As soon as I used it on the trap fields I decided to buy a regular 1100 and do the 3-gun thing with it instead; the 1100SF is awesome! I would...
I have heard good things about Stoeger and a couple buddies have them. They seem to work fine.
Inexpensive is definately south of $1000. I have some handguns that I could use as trading fodder so that helps but I imagine that most shotgun guys are not interested in handguns.
Thanks!
I am in the market for an inexpensive O/U in 28 or 410. I prefer barrels 26" or shorter and would consider a "combo". I also prefer screw in chokes over fixed choke barrels and a single selective trigger. Am I dreaming? Is there anything out there that is good quality that fits the bill...
Thanks Snuffy!
Typical slug targets are 35-70 yards out. I think 70 is rare but it depends on how bad a week the Match Director had. As far as the alloy, are wheel weights OK? Also, I just read some posts that suggest a disc between the wad and the slug to keep the wad from becoming part of the...
With the price of lead going nuts I have started collecting wheel weights and other lead items. The gun club has purchased a Litteton shot maker and I have access to it so that I can make shot. My shotgun activity will primarily be 3-Gun although I may thow in an occasional Dove or Quail hunt. I...
VonFatman,
Why are all your Powder measures empty? Do you empty them after evey use? Am I doing something bad leaving the powder in mine?
I am currently "building" my reloading room. Have the presses and have finished the sheetrock and ceiling, now I am building benches and shelves. I will...
I use Spitzers in my Thompson 30-30 barrel and they do indeed perform better. I never thought of using them in a lever gun with just 2 rounds...that is a really good idea! I traded my 336C ages ago in favor of my 7mm Mag which I will never get rid of.
