i presently own a p3at and recently sold my p11 in anticipation of buying a pf9 when they hit the market. i have never had the first problem with either of my kel-tecs.

i believe that modern shells play a more significant role in pattern today than in the days of paper shells and fiber wads. i have a mod. 12, 16 ga. with a 24" bbl. cut back from a mod. 28" bbl. that results in a true cyl. choke. it throws a pattern at 27 yds that is as nice as you'll find with...

it is the amount of constriction at the moment the cup leaves the bbl. that determines the distribution of shot within the pattern at 40 yds. the cup serves to protect and buffer the shot within the shell during its travel thru the bbl., separates and falls away a short distance from the muzzle.

think of it as a nozzle on a hose. the more you constrict it, the more concentrated the stream (pattern) becomes.

did that clerk have glassy eyes and smell funny?

my rem 700 ADL 30.06, purchased new in 1966 works fine for me. i think i'll keep it. i believe it cost 116.00 + tax. still has a redfield 4x on it. :)

i would agree with one exception. neither has learned to build a gun 6 1/2 lbs. or under. a legacy of 3" shells?

i hunted grouse with a fellow who owned one many years ago. his was all steel and a lovely gun, you can still find them occasionally at shows. sit low in the frame and a delight to shoot and carry. i don't think that you'll ever shoot one loose, even the alloy ones, unless you're a trap or skeet...

i had one stolen out of my truck about 5/6 yrs. ago. if they ever find the guy who did it i'm going to thank him.
