Holster for 1911 w/ light attached

Bump for update. I like the Raven Phantom but when I went to order it I found it doesn't fit my piece. For some reason it doesn't work for Taurus PT1911 ALR. Anybody got any other ideas? cb

Long and short barrel ammo diff?

Sorry the titles and spacing went awry. I didn't make a spread sheet, just typed the data into my local gun forum then when I tried copying it over here it got squeezed. I guess it's a different forum engine. For the original you're welcome to take a look in Carolina Gun Talk/General Firearms...

Long and short barrel ammo diff?

Duplicated in post #11 when meaning to edit. Not entirely in the 21st century yet lol. cb

Long and short barrel ammo diff?

Duo: Actually velocity loss from 4" to 2" averaged about 10%. And impact energy loss was everywhere from 15% to 40% on the few I've calculated so far. This was more trials than experiment. I used what I had and carry. I'm not going for theory here, I'm going for fact. This was about impact...

Importance of Belts for Concealed Carry

A good belt is I think more important to comfortable carry than the holster, IWB or OWB. Especially when you're hanging mags, loaders, lights or whatever on there too. I get some good solid leather black 1-1/4" mechanics belts (no metal exposed on the fastener) free with my uniform at work so...

Long and short barrel ammo diff?

I alternate carry between 5" 45 and 3" and between 4" 357 and 2-1/4" I hear all the time that the short barrels lose so much velocity that ammo choice needs to reflect that. But I see little if any real data on the subject. So yesterday I loaded up a 5" and 3" 1911, a Glock 22 and 27, also a...

Is 1911 bad for a first-time carry gun?

I use both, I don't see an appreciable difference in cleaning time. The Kimber requires that you put a little tool (or bent paper clip) in the guide rod to take the recoil spring assembly out without risking it flying away. No biggy and not absolutely necessary for a quick cleanup. The Glock...

Owners of Desert Eagle AND revolver of same caliber?

Simply Rugged (Rob Leahy in Wasilla Alaska) makes a nifty little speed strip pouch that snaps over your belt and when you unsnap it drops the speed strip into your hand. He also sells speed strips at a very good price. Takes up less room and conceals better than a mag holder too. Check it out. cb

    Ruger SP101

I'm in as of this morning. I decided last month when I finally gave up on getting back the 442 I gave the lady last year to 'see how she liked it'. Since I wanted another snub I decided I might as well go 357 and went with the SP because: heavier than the J-frame and smaller than the K-frame. I...

    Your favorite S&W 357?

4" 65-4 with Hogue grips. First and only. Can't think of why I need to get another. Sleeps by me on the night stand when I'm home and in my pack under my head when I'm in the tent. b

    642 Club Part Deux

indiandave; Ejector rod it was. About half a turn loose. That did it. Thanks. I love this forum. MDPuckett84; Were you talking to me or the trigger offset? cb

    642 Club Part Deux

Please forgive me if this has been covered here, and guide me to a thread number. I'm afraid I don't have time to read over 3000 posts at the moment. Man is this a popular piece. This thread is one of the reasons I bought a 442 last year. However, it was immediately appropriated by my SO and...

    Anyone use georgia arms ammo???

I've shot thousands of their stuff; 32acp, 38, 9, 357, 40, 45 and some 223 and never had problem one. I've never ordered any so I can't speak to delivery or customer service. My range has it on hand in most every flavor for range ammo and I've also never heard any other folks complain. They...

    S&W CS45... interested in feedback!

Sorry Charles S, making a quick reply at zero dark thirty I miss-spoke. I meant does the light live in the holster. It looks like there's an extra channel above the slide space. Probably just for the sight to ride out in. I occasionally go out (not far) without a gun, but never without a...
