Please correct or add advice where appropriate... I wanna buy a suppressor, and avoid the CLEO. (I'm legal; I've got an approved Florida and MS CCW. My CLEO has a reputation for reluctance.) I already have a revocable trust in force. I read all the links in post #2 here...

DAAAyum. I'm glad I don't live in Kennedy country. Even the PRK ain't that bad compared to MA. I agree with JTQ, but I'd ad the SIG 1911 to the list. The only listed 4" is the S&W 1911 Compact ES . It may not be a bad choice--it's an external extractor gun. I'd look for a private sale of a CCO...

After reading the entire thread, I'm still not sure what motivates you to consider moving from 5" to 3"...If the motivation is to reduce weight, an alloy-framed 5" (or even a 4 1/4" Lwt Commander) would really reduce the burden. Extrapolated, a Lwt 3" would really carry well, but shooting it...

This would be a second carry gun, not a primary CCW. I wanna stay with the 1911 for the ergonomics and almost "common" magazine.

+1 I'm not a fan of any of your three OEMs. I'd buy a backup 1911 now. If money's a problem then I'd go with your craving to purchase another revolver, but I'd make it a .38 Airweight.
