Thanks for the info, I think I'm gonna attempt to build an A2 or an M4 clone for now.

I'm getting ready to build a AR or an AK, mainly just for plinking. I've been thinking about a retro AR (using parts from brownells) or an AK. While I've never built an AK I would like to take on the task, I have built several AR's though.

I lost a bidding war on a beautiful late 40's Marlin 30-30 but I feel this one will serve me just fine!

Well I pick up a 2004 Marlin 30-30, with about 100 rounds, for $300 some light storage marks but not bad, works and shoots fine

Is $375 a bad price for a JM Marlin?

My AR15 has an 18" barrel, with 15" keymod rail and iron sights, my AR10 has a 20" barrel with 15" rail, and 6-12x50 scope.

Ron, I don't and thanks for mentioning it, my gunsmith friend will rebarrel rifles for me at no charge. I bought a barreled receiver for my Garand from CMP. At this point I'm leaning towards the M14 but I'm still a little undecided

I don't mind buying complete rifles, I could save my pennys, but I enjoy building them myself (it gives me something to do)

If I build the M14 who all makes receivers, I know James river, Fulton Armory, and lbr does, is there anyone else?

If I were to build a carbine it would be about the same price as if I bought an original, but wouldn't have to spend that much money at once, hence the reason I built the rest of my rifles.
