Fatkat-- "Squirrel rifles" are generally 39 ADLs from the early 60s. Not often seen. Here is a link to a short discussion on these rifles from the Marlin Collector's site: http://www.marlin-collectors.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=6621&start=0&st=0&sk=t&sd=a Hope it helps, Todd

    Remington 31T / 31TC questions

Thanks for the info and tips--appreciate hearing from you all. The other forums have been DEAD, which surprises me. It's a neat old shooter, I'll let you know how she works out when I pick her up. Thanks again, Todd

    Remington 31T / 31TC questions

I posted this over on the Shotgun World site, and got zero replies, so I thought I'd give THR a try. I recently found a model 31-T with a four digit serial number, and what I think is a decent price, but before I grab it, I'd like to get some information on what these guys are supposed to look...

    Springfield M6 Trigger Guard Removal

That sounds good, Gun Tech--is there a particular tool that you used to spread the receiver walls?

    Springfield M6 Trigger Guard Removal

As the new owner of an M6, I can understand why people hate the trigger guard on these things. I would like to remove it in the least-damaging way possible, and I would appreciate hearing from those who have done this already. Any input is appreciated! -Todd

Frank-- That is a fine rifle; I have a similar one, and it is by far my favorite for offhand shooting. The slimmer barrel makes it a joy to hold. Also nice having the tang drilled for a peep sight if you care to go that route. I haven't been around for awhile, so excuse me if it was covered...

    The Marlin 39 Club

Thanks for the info, guys. I compared the ejector to three other 39A ejectors, and it is about 2/16" shorter at the "thumb" (whatever that piece is that makes contact with the bolt). What appears to be happening is that the shorter height of this part of the ejector is allowing the front end...

    The Marlin 39 Club

Thanks for the info dfaris. Maybe you would be so kind as to weigh in on another39-A question. On the same 1950 39A, the shells don't eject when they should, and as far as I can tell, it is due to the ejector coming up prematurely and bumping the case before the spring can do its job. If I...

    The Marlin 39 Club

Had good luck at a gun show today, and came home with a 1950 39A in exc. shape for $275. I rarely, if ever, find good deals at the local shows, so this was a real treat. There is a white spacer at the butt, so I have a feeling the buttplate has been replaced. The fact that it is so well...

using whiting powder/paste to remove oil from stock

Thanks, dfaris--was hoping you'd offer your $.02! Just what I was hoping to hear. Thanks!

using whiting powder/paste to remove oil from stock

Hi all, Have a nice 1898 krag rifle with an oil-soaked stock. I would like to pull the oil out, but I am NOT interested in refinishing it completely. So no dishwashers or oven cleaners for me. For those who have used whiting to remove oil in the past, does this method require refinishing...

    The Marlin 39 Club

At a CADA show weekend before last, saw a mint 1954 39A for $450. Was sorely tempted, but the main detraction was the big scratch on the hammer and the matching marks on the right-rear edge of the bolt--clearly caused by someone breaking the rifle down w/o pulling the hammer to 1/2 cock first...

borrowed time Does the round get caught on the top edge of the chamber, or does it not even make it that far up? If it's the top of the chamber, it could be that the flat cartridge guide spring isn't doing its job. Among other minor issues, my 39 had this problem on and off until I replaced...

    The Marlin 39 Club

What has been your most spectacular long-range shot (dumb luck or pure skill) with a 39? There are few things I like more than setting up reactive targets at well beyond .22 range, and then walking the shots in. My best effort was hitting a clay pigeon at 200 yards, off hand, iron sights, on...
