wow! not sure where to start on this one. a bullet resistant vest should be used as a means of protection in the event of a shtf scenario. they should NOT be used for entertainment purposes for a myriad of reasons.
even though he made a mistake by opening the door(he's 69, maybe his hearing is bad) for someone asking for beer, at least he was able to defend himself.
i know for a fact that my 40-50yr old Remington 721 in 30-06 is dead on at 100yds. i may take my Marlin 30-30 to the range to see if my accuracy problems are the result of loose scope mounts or excessive headspace. my PSE "the Beast" bow is a sure thing for the boiler room at 20yds.
not sure what ammo he uses, but i have a friend that uses his .223 Ar15 on deer(and javelina). the important thing is shot placement. a .22lr will down a deer when put in the right spot.
