hey DFW1911, what kind of sight did you use on that 1911? i've been looking to put a set on my SA mil-spec, but don't really know what will fit properly.
i have to say that i never thought i would want an ar. it was the thing that everyone had and i try to avoid going with the pack when i can. but the more i fought against it, the more i found myself wanting to build one. so i did. it wasn't that i didn't like the ar, it was more that everyone...
^+1 that is exactly what it sounds like to me. if what the shop told you was correct, nobody would be able to buy an ar upper and have if fixed by a gunsmith. where are you in connecticut? i'm out near manchester and know of a guy who does ffl's on the side for a small fee.
i was at a local gunshop tonight and found a ruger 10/22 to replace one i sold to a friend. the gun is very clean, but the serial number was a bit weird. before the first 3 digits of the number was an asterisk. as an example, it looked like this:
*251-xxxxxx
has anybody seen this? it looked...
CMMG usually has bargain bin guns for around $700. they say scratch and dent but most people can't seem to find any marks on them. i'm building one right now and when done , it will be around $900. i live in connecticut so i can't have an ak, and for an ar i have to make sure i'm ban-compliant...
anyone know if the ones made for the ar-15/m4's would fit the bayonet lug? a quick google search netted many of these mounts but i am not sure of the dimensions. might be worth a shot though. easy to mount a light for HD, but i can still use the bayonet for battlefield charges. :D
i was just repeating what i was told by a sales person. i was actually told that on 2 separate occasions. the scope on my buddy's rifle seems nice and held zero very well. if their own sales people don't have a clue, who am i to say?
i have been using the info from the IMR site. same as the hodgdon site. i'm not using hollow points, but it seems that maybe 3.8 grains should fix my problems. i had a few rounds that fired and chambered the next round. i was hand measuring the i might have been off by .1 or so grains.
my walther pps uses a 2-piece spring assembly that can't be taken apart. so i have to load the cartridge to function in the gun. not much choice in that. unless wolf has started making spring assemblies.
