    Who uses LEE?

Lee collet dies are great. I have many sets. Also have their factory crimp dies, but I don't crimp much. Just crank the sizing die in a little more for a tighter fit. Great stuff! So is their Classic single stage cast press. Very solid. I did have a problem with the Challenger press...

Need help buying a 308 rifle

Tikka Tikka T3 Lite. Best value around in bolt action hunting rifles. Very accurate, very light, very well made, and not expensive.

New to hunting, what can I do to increase my chances of bagging a deer?

Hunt First of all, you have to be proficient with your bow, muzzleloader, handgun, or rifle. When shot time comes, everything has to be on autopilot. This is a prerequisite. Next, you have to be transparent in the woods. Be thorough in scent control. You don't want to be smelled, seen...

.22 lr rifle subsonic/silenced shopping advice needed

Dedicated upper If you have an AR lower, consider the Tactical Solutions dedicated upper. I have one with their Cascade suppressor. With subsonic ammo the bolt closing is louder than the report. Accuracy is about 1/2-3/4" ctc at 50 yards, depending upon ammo. Much better than I expected...

    hang on or ladder stand?

Stands After having had multiple stands and other hunting items stolen on private land, I hunt almost exclusively from climbing stands. I hike in and out wiht them stapped to my back. Summit Goliath is my favorite. I'm 6 feet 185, and the stand allows me to move if needed, in great comfort...

Which rifle caliber to buy next

Awesome choice! The Encore platform allows you to change calibers for a few hundred bucks, keeping stock and fire control consistent across all. I don't have a 6.5 Creedmoor yet, but it's on my list. My favorite Encore barrel is a 26" MGM .257 Roberts. It's downright amazingly accurate and...

    the hunt....for a scope

wrong again Haxby, I am not going to argue with you as you are obviously not educated in modern optics. The 30mm tube's sole purpose is a wider field of view. It does not "gather light", nor does it cure cancer. You should probably stick with Barska scopes. Outahere.

    the hunt....for a scope

budget If you have a $600 budget go to eurooptic.com and check out their Meopta demos. Just like new, great glass. You'll never buy another cheap(er) scope! Zeiss is also a winner. For the money, the Conquest is a bargain. But Meopta is the best value for the money in my opinion. Actually...

    the hunt....for a scope

question for ya What optics do you have mounted on your hunting rifles?

    the hunt....for a scope

I prefer 6x42. More light available generally, but you do have to mount them a little more above line of sight. By the way, comparing the Leupold of your choice with the Meopta is just not fair. To the Leopold...

    the hunt....for a scope

scope Try the Meopta MeoPro 3-9x42 with German #4 reticle. Or Zeiss Conquest 3-9x40 if you can find one. Another option is 6x Fixed in Zeiss, Meopta, or even Leupold (USA) or Sightron (Japan). If you're really lucky you'll find a Swarovski Z3 in 3-9x36 for about $600. Also, Meopta MeoStar...

    the hunt....for a scope

glass I have directed multiple shooters in this area to buy more glass and less gun. Even a relatively low cost rifle with good glass can be an effective hunting rig. No reason to go long on the rifle if you can't see what you're shooting at! The Tikka/Meopta combination is one of the most...
