Do You Change Your Every Day Carry When Going On Lengthy Out of State Road Trips?

EDC almost always stays the same out of town but if we're traveling by car I add one of the S & W 4" mod 64s in as the "car gun" and back up. These days even a day trip to Chicago is "two gun" adventure just in case.

Any recommendations for where to get an M-1 Carbine inspected/repaired?

Extracting but not picking up a fresh cartridge.

Any recommendations for where to get an M-1 Carbine inspected/repaired?

Just a general question; can anyone offer a recommendation of where I might get our early/mid WW II production Inland M 1 Carbine inspected and repaired? While it is in ok original (if well worn) condition, never appears to have been re-arsenalled or upgraded and retains the "old style" mag...

Who should be the next NRA leader?

Likely too old, but no doubt where he stands.... writer/director John Milius.

Assault Weapon Identification Guide As listed or described in Illinois Compiled Statutes 720 ILCS 5/24-1.9

Most LE are specifically exempted from having to register their weapons. Doesn't mean that they can't do so, but do not have to; and no distinction is made between work & personal weapons owned by the individual officer. Retired LE are also exempt. Both can continue to acquire the newly...

Colt CZ to buy Sellier & Bellot / Magtech

I'm still shooting some S & B NATO 5.56 SS 109 I bought from Cheaper Than Dirt by mail in 1996 or so. I've never had any issues with that stuff or anything else by them. Some guys used to say they used powders that tended to "dirty up" a gun but that was decades ago. CZs involvement can't be...

    Illinois Gun Registry Solution

+1. This is a fun academic exercise and all concerned in contriving of this proposed solution no doubt are creative and well-intended; but I fail to see how this bolt swap in any way changes the over-arching fact that the weapon remains an AR pattern weapon regulated by PICA in Illinois. If...

Who regularly shoots a gun older than they are??

Half my collection is older than me. My current compact auto for EDC is CZ VZ 50 in .32 ACP. Creepy DA trigger but otherwise nice to shoot. Older than me by a year.

If Your Gun Was A Car

1944 SA M-1 rifle and 1952 Willy's-Overland M38a1. Both were cutting-edge military gear when introduced and remain utterly utilitarian, durable and formidable today. They intersected in use in the Korean conflict (this model Jeep was brand new, the last refinement of the original Jeeps used by...

    What to know about Tannerite?

It's fun stuff deserving as much respect as Dynamite, Composition B, TNT or any other high explosive. I never shoot it except as described in the instructions; placing it near or inside objects will make them into projectiles. Isn't it great to live in a county where you can be bored with...

    Happy 10/22 Day!!!

No handguns as I recall, but at least Mini-14s and 10/22s (and others) at one time. So-called hi cap mags (aftermarket) and USA ammo as well. Didn't buy my Mini there BUT but ammo and off-brand 20rd mags. It was a pretty cool store in the 80's/early 90's. Last item I got there...a Waterman...

    Happy 10/22 Day!!!

I've had my 10/22 bought at the now-defunct Service Merchandise in Lansing, IL since 1985 and it just runs and runs. A few years back I treated it to a set of new springs, but that is it for repairs. When it gets really dirty I like to take it all the way down and just scrub the receiver out...
