Spreadsheet ideas for keeping track of reloading supplies?

If you want to be that detailed, then you need to use a relational database. Use some variant of SQL, such as MySQL or PostgreSQL, or you could go Oracle and do PL/SQL. Write your databases to incorporate manufacturer, type, and lot numbers along with date of purchase, date of manufacturer (if...

    223 Brass Problems

My .223 brass prep procedure: 1. Deprime (and swage with Dillon Super Swage if necessary) 2. Tumble 3. Resize (using Imperial Die Wax) 4. Tumble 5. Trim with Giraud (which also deburs and chamfers in one step) 6. Clear flash holes 7. Prime I shoot a lot of .223 considering my...

Nothing beats a good cleaning rod. I like Dewey coated and Pro Shot stainless steel rods.

    Anybody ever used scope shims?

Shims work great. The amount of pressure between the base and the receiver from torquing down the screws eliminate any movement. You can buy actual shims designed for scope base usage, or you can go field expedient and cut an aluminum soda can.

    cheap M-1 Garand

My Delorean and Flux Capacitor are working fine, but my Mr. Fusion is on the fritz and I can't get any plutonium. Can't get the 1.21 Gigawatts generated.

    Tell me about slings

Slings have different uses. In High Power Competition, it is the primary method of support through equipment. In hunting and duty (i.e. military), it serves as a method of carrying the rifle and also serves as an option for artificial support. 3-point slings are great for patrol use...

What goes into a "National Match" AR?

As far as this question, the sling is attached to the sling swivel which is attached to the free float tube. I posted this picture in another post recently regarding free float tubes: Note how the sling swivel is not a part of the barrel (directly or indirectly such on the front sight...

What goes into a "National Match" AR?

Service Rifle legal National Match modifications to the standard M16/AR15 A2 model are: 1. Rear sight with 1/2x1/2 or 1/4x1/4 MOA rear sight. Much desired since 1MOA per click adjustments aren't fine enough for competition use. 2. Rear sight with the capability to accept swappable rear sight...

    AR tubes/handguards...

Here's a photo of front end of a Compass Lake "National Match" free float tube: Note the sling swivel is on the tube, and not the front sight base. Also note how there is plenty of 'float' space between the tube and the barrel. Pressure exerted on the sling to the sling swivel will put...

What do YOU do with a Spotting Scope?

SwampWolf: The Ray-Vin head will handle your scope. As far as which stand and head combination to get, I think it's a pretty difficult choice. The Ray-Vin, Creedmoor Big Blue, and the Giraud are probably considered the top scope stands and heads. One primary reason I wanted the Ray-Vin is...

What do YOU do with a Spotting Scope?

I don't want to try to describe the mechanism of the Ray-Vin scope head, because it will definitely come out very confusing. Check out this product page for info: http://www.ray-vin.com/scopestands/scopehead.htm But it basically allows you to reposition the scope however you want it. If...

    Leupold Sequoia Spotting Scope

The Sequoia line is Leupold's foreign produced 'budget' optics line. There is a *huge* difference between the Leupold "Gold Ring" and Sequoia lines. I never looked through the 20-60x80, but I've looked through the 15-45x60 Sequoia and that one was pretty bad. Don't even bother trying to spot...

    CCI 5.56 Military primer

I've had problems with Winchester SR in the AR15 platform. No slamfires, but I've had quite a few pierced primers, even in mild loads. For some reason, the Winchester SR primers don't hold up well in the AR15. That's why I started buying CCI small rifle primers (400 and BR4) and now Remington...
