Should you be able to push it open with your thumb if the action in the closed position? I havn't tried using a bullet yet but I can't push it back at all with my thumb. I don't see how much difference pushing my thumb against a bullet will make.
I just picked up a used 1978 model 94. The bluing is excellent and the wood is VG. However, the loading port gate is stuck or something. I can't get it to open and I can't load the rifle. Does anyone know how to fix this?

It's kind of Ironic, but I have read several accounts of American Sericemen in Iraq (as well as Iraqi police) arming themselves with AK-47s because they function better in the sandy environment and are prefered for up close social work.

I say it was well handled. We can always be paranoid, what if it was someone that really needed help? Answering the door armed with precaution was the right thing to do.
I usually buy used guns. The prices are much better and a lot of times they aren't even shot or shot very little. People buy them, never shoot them and sell them. Probably one out of 10 guns I buy is new.
