What are "THE" match reloads for 1:7 ARs?

Prudent person One of the problems I have is time to get to the range. Anybody have a quick way to find a load that is good for one's rifle? I used to start at the minimum and load up 5 shots. Go up 0.2-0.3 grains in each 5 shot group. It takes me a month plus to develop a load. Lester

    Practice hunting bullets

Practice Practice Practice I have a scout rifle made by Ted Yost and Lew Bonitz. It is an absolutely incredible rifle. I did not appreciate the Scout Rifle Concept until I started practicing with it. I am getting better with it. I have been practicing actively with it for the last 3 months...

    Practice hunting bullets

I reload mainly 308 and 300 Win Mag. Is there a decent bullet that doesn't cost an arm and a leg that that is good for practice and hunting? I have been using Hornady 165 grain SST and Interlock. I have been reloading these for 308 with 42.3 grain N140 and OAL 2.75 inches. I haven't had a...

    Forster dies

Thanks for all the replies I am glad that I am not the only one with some problems with Forster dies. For the most part I like them but I don't think they are the best of the best. Even the best of the best have problems. Lester

    Forster dies

Does this mean that you've had to straighten the stem or replace them? Are you decapping crimped Boxer primed military ammo? What brand brass are you decapping? When you bend a stem or break a pin, is there evidence in the inside of the web that the pin did not hit the flash hole...

    Forster dies

The salesman at the gun store told me that Forster dies were the best dies available for the money. I bought 308 full length sizer, 308 neck sizer, and seating dies. I have found that the decapping pins break and the decapping assembly bends alot. I am using an RCBS 2000 as a single...

    .22 for squirrel

Squirrel Hunting When I was a kid in Missouri, Dad, always made sure that we had shooting sticks. We would walk slowly and see the squirrels. Shooting sticks increased our kill rates. You have to practice with them. I made one from a forked willow branch. Lester

Rifle to become a better marksman

Becoming a better marksman I am a terrible shot. I have improved but I haven't become good enough for my liking. I have a bunch of toys also. I found a few things that helped me. 1) Art of the Rifle by Jeff Cooper 2) Get a pellet rifle. I found one at Walmart for $75. It has a...

    Muzzle brakes

Most effective brakes Has anyone done test to figure out which one is the most effective. Most muzzle brakes have holes circumferentially around the brake. Others have chambers. Which one works the best? Are there brakes which look like an extension of the barrel rather than a growth...

    Muzzle brakes

Can somebody explain the physics behind a muzzle brake? How is velocity affected? Is air sucked behind the bullet as in a Venturi effect? Has anybody done wind tunnel studies? Thanks, Lester
