Advice on new pistol purchase for person with "smallish" hands.

When I'm thinking about a model and can't try it easily. I search a used cheap airsoft, they are close to real one. Don't laugh, it work with my fat hand short fingers.

    STI Recoilmaster?

I discover today the recoilmaster, better to say I used it for the first time. I had previously a Trojan .45 with a full lenght rod and was fully satisfied. At this time I was reluctant to try anything else. Now, I got a Rangemaster 9mm with a "light" recoilmaster. It worked flawlessly this...

1911 Slide won't come off during disassembly

I've a Tanfoglio Witness 1911 which suffer from the same problem, a "walking" barrel link pin. I was really sorry first time it happen. Time to time I've to reset-it, I check-it on every cleaning and set it back, when needed, before he protrude. A punch of the right size, a hammer, a good...

    9mm in the 1911 Platform

I hope an STI rangemaster 9x19 in 3 or 4 weeks (time for certification and paperwork). 2 box of manufactured FMJ for maiden, then steady diet of home cast (Lee 358-105-SWC) planned. I still didn't found a 9mm that I'll kept, tried Ruger P85 (efficient, not enough accurate) and Browning HP...

    New Sheriff at home !

For those who are interested (if they don't already knows) there is a huge topic about paper carridge. My own touch is using .45 auto brass as hull while manufacturing and transportation (not a kind of retro-conversion) I only fold the paper bottom and glue with saliva, so it's quite fragile...

    New Sheriff at home !

I just received my new remmie. I'm glad with my "classical" 1858 Army, but 8" is way long. 3" or less snubnose are fun, but I always feel good with 5", they look well, are well balanced, being an old Colt S.A or a modern S&W 625. (I'm only a paper puncher) Last week, I found an advise...

    Dry (practice) shooting an 1858

I use some tricks for dry firing practice. . With wheelgun a piece of rubber, here with my 36 navy: For the remmy, same trick, the difficulty is to get the right thickness. For pistol it's easier: a rubber washer, works even with my smallest pistol:

    Lee REAL in a 1858?

Try to find a Lyman 450229, they were made for what you want. Wheight was quite conservative, slighty heavier than round ball (near 145gn), wide driving band for acuracy, hollow base to accomodate chamber and bore dimensioning and SWC to cut a cylinder thru the target.

how many have an 1861 navy?

me too, just one ... for the moment.

    Last buy, Navy 36

Yep, the grips look like briard, really nice and uncommon. But they need a little work as they aren't flush with frame. I'll try an old trick, I need a cutting tool, harder than wood that won't hurt brass, so a glass splinter is supposed to work well. Tommy, I bought the gun in a town most...

    Last buy, Navy 36

last, before the next one ! At first, I wasn't found about colt and the V notch in the hammer. So I began with a stainless 58 Army. Shoot well, easy to clean, easy to load with paper cartridge, quite accurate, well a good handgun and ... no more. Later, new idea grown slowly in my...

Range Report - Consumable paper cartridges for '58 Rem

Don't twist the bottom end but fold-it. The "centered" twisted paper is just in front/inside the nipples, that mean at least 1/8" of compressed paper that is able (easily) to stop the primer ignition. Even with cigarette paper. With folded end, you got 4 or 6 thickness of paper, easily pierced...

Should I buy that bullet mould?

Articap is right (I think). I've slugged a 45 cal derringer from Ardesa, caliper said something like .452 .454 Your 450 REAL will fit, easily even pure lead, I'm not sure. Don't forget grease, hand lubbing will do the trick at a low cost, pan lubbing would be a step better. I always think...
