What about single action 1911s? Nice triggers can be found, or made (grin) for not too much trouble...
I have tried Springfield and Kimber... now have 5 Kimbers (along with Glock 30) and compete with several Kimbers.
.40cal Kimber is a nice one... 10 round mags are easier to find for...
