    12GA Rifle From HELL--

Ed, interesting gun. I just returned home from a trip through the UK. He told me that virtually all new magnum 3" barrels, regardless of muzzle diameter have a rated service pressure of 15,000 psi, proofed at near 20,000 psi. beretta is now making a side by side slug gun you might be...

    12GA Rifle From HELL--

Is it really safe to have a bullet protruding out of the shell as it is in the picture above? if that's the case, why can't we use .50 BMG bullets in a saboted load? Great bc, sectional density. it would make an excellent hunting round.

    Lightfield Commander

I ordered a box of 3" Lightfield Commander cartridges to try. They are advertised as 601 grain slugs with a muzzle energy of 1800 fps. This computes to 4,322 ft-lbs. energy, but they list the muzzle energy at 3,322 ft. lbs. What happened to the other 1,000 ft.-lbs.?

    Powerful Sabot Slugs

Looks like I'm going to have a fun weekend ahead of me testing new slug rounds. My research this afternoon through the various forums found the following, which is for a smooth bore barrel: 600 grain slug with IMR 4759 yielding 1800 fps and a pressure of ~14,700 psi which ought to be fine for...

    Powerful Sabot Slugs

They say 44 gr. of HS-6 and a 500 grain bullet will do the trick. Only one way to find out. I'll contact someone over there tomorrow and see what's up.

I was skeptical myself, but what were these guys referring to in this thread? See: http://www.thehighroad.org/archive/index.php/t-399789.html

    Powerful Sabot Slugs

Thanks for the info! Do their sabots actually work to create that kind of energy in a shotgun package?

    Powerful Sabot Slugs

I read here on an archived thread that there is a company which produces a sabot that keeps pressures in the safe range and makes 6,400 ft-lbs of energy. They called it a BPI sabot. I can't find any information on this elsewhere, so maybe you guys could fill me in on this. Anyone use these...
