Quick Finish Q So I cleaned my new 642 tonight, pretty simple actually, used break free clp as that seems to be the safest out there for this finish. I noticed on the frame opposite the cylinder, a few places of the clear coat are chipped off. It appears this is in the outline of the bullet...

Just thought I would share that I just shot my new 686P this evening, very smooth. I really like the feel. The trigger action is smooth as can be, really. Using .357 packs a bit of a punch but nothing like my 642! Using .38 is easy shooting...not much recoil at all really. Great feel and...

Hi, I have a new 642 I picked up a couple days ago. Now, I realize the clear-coat finish might require special care. SW tells me the finish is better than a couple years ago and that the issue is the use of ammonia. (Not to use it and it is in the manual I am told but have not looked yet for...

Cleaning the 642 I am sure this has been beat to death...but what do you guys use to clean your 642? I am thinking Birchwood, the new all finishes safe stuff (meant for any finish including polymer and camo) they came out with. What is the consensus on this issue as of late 2006? Thanks, :)

Hi, I am thinking about a new 638 or 642 but would like to know about the clear-coat issue. I searched but only seemed to find issues back in 2004-2005. SW apparently dropped the price to sell them...now, do the new guns have the same issue or have they figured it out a bit better? SOme say...

Right That is what happens in MA...we just do not pay a separate fee, but I may agree it is built into the price of the gun. Just a guess...:D

Fees? Not normal unless its a transfer. Here WE will out the paaperwork, they sign it and make a 3 minute call. I live in MA. Really not a big deal. :)
