Just my opinion here.....
I have a variety of hand guns to choose from, and most of them I consider "good" firearms...
The two .45's I consider as my favorites, are both Ruger's.
A P97 I bought new back around 2000 is still as accurate as the day I bought it(and, it is VERY accurate), and a...
I purchased a Ruger CMD earlier this year.
It came with two 7-round mags....
Ordered a couple of 8 round "Shooting Star" mags, they also fit and work fine.

LC9....
My SO has a LC9, which she carries...and she loves it(she shoots it pretty good too). :D
I prefer and carry a SR9c, IWB- it is just fine for me.
We have had nothing but great firearms from Ruger, (own 4 of them) so my vote is for the LC9.

Since no one here has answered the OP's original questions...and I CAN'T, because I have never fired a Colt( I do have a SR1911 CMD-very happy with it).
May I suggest checking out the "1911.com" forums...
You will find more than enough info to help you in your decision making.

I own and carry a SR9C. It has not once failed to shoot any and all ammo that I have loaded it with.
EXCELLENT trigger- can't say enough about how great this pistol is.
Having said all that, my SO picked out a laser equipped LC9 for her carry weapon about 6 months ago-and she really likes it...
Got a Nate2 Pro. about a month ago, for my Ruger SR1911 CMD..
Great quality, works as advertised, but I haven't worn it enough to tell you how comfortable it is after extended wear. So far, I AM impressed!

Got my Ruger SR1911 CMD about a month ago...it has been GREAT! :D
I'm not an expert, by any means. But, I do own a few guns, and have been shooting most of my 50+ years....And I believe the SR1911 is a real winner.
My .02 cents worth.
