To the best of my recollection (it's been over 10 years), my instructor didn't mention this.
However, he did emphasize that we be careful who we ride with and who we allow to ride with us. The example used was being careful if you take a ride with someone you don't know very well. For...
I purchased three new guns within a very short time frame so I honesty can't remember which one was last.
A Savage Mark II F in .22 LR
A Savage 93 G .22 WMR
and an
NAA Mini Revolver.
The two rifles were purchased at the same time, but I'm not sure if that was before the NAA or...
Been married almost 13 years now and I've never heard that one. Never been divorced either, but that line is classic. One I'll certainly remember. :o
As to the OP, thanks for the great post. There are so many pitfalls that can deprive us of our gun rights, a person can't be too careful...
I would go with the handgun I felt best about carrying and using for that purpose. From my experience, I'm much better with guns I feel best about. I shoot them better, handle them better, and use them better for the intended purpose.
I've got my eye on this lovely little Bushmaster, but I'm not yet ready to make the purchase. Still have some ciphering to do before I decide on the exact model.
Regardless, the list of the OP - those are all great reasons to buy a gun. Heck, every day should be "buy a gun day", IMO. Sort...
I guess that all depends on what you mean by "investment". Personally, I like to spend money on stuff I'll have for many years to come. That's one reason I have no problem spending $1000+ for a new gun.
I see people blowing $50 - $100 going out to eat, etc. and what do they get for it? A...
Arguing about this is pointless....
I would never ***tell*** anyone else how to carry, nor would I tell them what to carry.
This thread is pretty much useless, unless you're looking for some statistics on how one person chooses to carry vs another.
* I don't believe this thread is...
Favorite handgun: Glock 21
Favorite rifle: Remington 700 BDL DM in 7mm Remington Magnum
Least favorite of all: Don't have one as they're all special to me in one way or another.
I still run into a lot of people (especially on the Net) who actually believe the AR-15 looking guns really are "assault weapons" and "machine guns" and are SO very dangerous. :banghead:
The only negative I see about open carry is the scream/panic factor from folks who see a man with a gun - similar to what the OP indicated. The ONLY reason I see that as a negative is because law-enforcement is usually called and that wastes time for the person carrying and the LEO...
A tiny NAA revolver. It has two wheels, one for .22 mag and the other for .22 LR. This gun is so small, it can fit in your butt crack, should you need to hide it there. :D
My wife and I made an "arrangement" that keeps me really honest about my gun "addiction".
Here's the way it goes:
She agrees that I can buy any gun(s) I want, as many as I want, etc. and she won't fuss or gripe about it at all. But, here's the catch - she always gets "matching funds"...
I would define it as follows:
Any time the general threat level to you, your family, your property, etc. is in any way elevated, significantly, above a day-to-day threat level - whether directly, or indirectly.
