What is the reasoning behind the long throat of the bigger calibers and are they meant to be loaded faster in velocity to be more accurate? I have a 375 H&H that was re chambered to the weatherby some time ago before I ever had it and it shoots 2" + or - at 100 yds. I load 10 % lower than the...
I posted a thread here about 1 month ago concerning a stripped side cover hole in the frame of a S&W revolver. Be advised anyone who sends a old pistol mine was 32 yrs old, the wait is 3 months or more. They are swamped there.
I called s&w, they said send it in and they will take a look at it and send a cost estimate to me. I was hoping for helicoil. If my eyes are right, it looks like a #8 48tpi. I can get #8 46 at Brownells but not 48tpi. Thanks for every ones help.
Curious if anyone else has experienced this. I have a s&w mod 57 with a screw hole that is stripped. Can a gun smith do this, or is this for the factory?
Just like TonyT said. I love my 550. Any errors were my fault. And Dillon stands squarely on their products. Any questions and they are happy to help. That is my experience anyway. Wish you the best of luck.
Even though this is a bottle neck cartridge, it head spaces on the mouth like a 45acp. You get 2 dies like a rifle cartridge, your dies don't roll crimp or taper crimp. What you experience is what I have found. The neck is so short ( not alot of support ) the placement of bullet COL is critical...
Thanks. I knew about the freebore and the thought Roy had about that. I have though put bullets .002 thou. off the rifling and drop the charge 10% and got much better results. That was my thought for the rifling.
Atf is a odd thing. Remembering from my rebuilding classes 30+ years ago, It does lube everything in there, but also provides a environment for good friction of the friction material and metal discs. I use it for my honing stones and that is all.It does have additives that control foaming,heat...
Thanks. I went to SAAMI and got an idea there. The reason I'm asking is because I have a old Winchester M70 that was rechambered to 375 Weatherby. It has a 3/4 " free travel before it encounters the leade of the rifling. It does 2 inch groups at 100yds. but no better. I haven't shot it at 200...
