Just ran the serial number. It was made in 1954. I bought this off a guy I work with whose dad used to be a police detective. This was his police gun. It's in excellent shape and he left me have it for $50. Now is that one hell of a deal or what?! :D

I think your fears are irrational. The kB thing has been blown way out of proportion on the Internet. I love both for their own reasons, but I'd choose the Glock for myself based on price, ease of use, ease and low cost of repair, reliability record and less concern about banging it up/rusting...

I bought an S&W 19-5 last month in really good shape for $299 and it's a great shooter. Handles .38, .38 +P really well and .357 is perfectly manageable. It's well balanced and about the perfect weight for me. I recommend it highly!
