Mythbusters: Shooting fish in a barrel

Since when did shooting fish in a barrel require water being in the barrel? :)

The GF and I argued about CCW'ing

Timbo, the issue to me is would the JHP do the same thing while expanding and not penetrating as far. My thinking is that it wouldn't do so as much. Shrug. hot-knife-through-butter would be the plan. I'm a rather large guy, m'self. well......wide. I'm as tall as a point guard and as heavy...

if you don't want your plasma screen anymore, I'm sure you can find a new home for it with relative ease.

The GF and I argued about CCW'ing

Correia, thanks for the information. Chieftain, I have heard such things many times. I've even heard the ubiquitous, "he fired, it went through the perp, bounced off the brick wall, and came back and wounded the officer who fired". I am just as likely to believe it's NYPD's lousy shooting...

The GF and I argued about CCW'ing

I don't use it. If I have to shoot someone, then I prefer as much penetration as I can get. I want my assailant bleeding from two holes instead of one.....for each round I put in/through him. Know your target and what's behind it. Don't assume a round you fire -won't- go all the way...

TN or NC for gun friendliness

I live in East TN - Elizabethton. It's a bit south of Bristol and about 20 miles from the NC border both south and east. My wife's family lives in NC, so I find myself in NC often. Carry laws are generally similar, but as hso points out, actually buying a handgun is a bit more of a pita in NC...

    Odd occurence at a hotel...opinions?

Thanks for your comments and suggestions folks. ...for the record, half a mm from shooting someone is still -not- shooting someone. :)

    Odd occurence at a hotel...opinions?

So I'm traveling again this week. Last week in southern PA I stopped at a hotel which was so wonderful that the safety catch had been broken off at the base. I mention this to set up my rather surprising experience of Monday night. My wife and I get to the hotel in Norther PA late...on...

    Shoes!

Browning, a brand called Birkenstocks might be what you're looking for. They have many different styles including a few with straps around the ankles. they tend to be...er......pricey.

Does anybody remember Maxwell Smart's gun?

I remember an episode where he was boxed in one three sides. After coming back from commercial, he brings out a revolver with 1 grip and 3 frames...one pointed straight out, and two pointed 90 degrees on either side. GREAT usefulness, that one. One trigger pull and those 3 evil Kaos agents...

Carry gun while driving a commercial vehicle?

I'm currently in school working toward getting my CDL, and I've heard several opinions already. What I want to know is the law. I have a carry permit from TN. If I stay in TN or any state with reciprocity, is it a crime, specifically a federal crime, for me to carry my gun with me while I...

    Good deal on a Kimber 1911 9mm?

Yes my priest has guns. He was trying to get his wife into shooting, but she couldn't rack the slide on this one. Alas. Jaak, thanks for the input.

    Hollow Point Ammo in NJ.

You can find explanations of New Jersey hollow point laws here: http://www.state.nj.us/njsp/about/fire_hollow.html As I understand it, unless you're a resident at home or to and from a range, each round in possession qualifies you for a $1000 fine. When I travel to New Hampshire to see my...
