You have Lignum Vitae there, in Fla. That is some of the hardest wood going. You have to work to keep these hard woods from spitting as they dry, but it is worth it. I have a stick of Desert Ironwood, and I exercise with it every day.

I own a Western Bowie, and think it is one of the prettiest things in the world! I actually honed it on the bottom of a ceramic serving plate, there is a ring of exposed and unglazed ceramic on the bottom that gives good edge. I love that knife.

Bobson made a good point there. I should have qualified my posts by saying that I have no physical impediments, am 38 years old, and have a good deal of experience in practical urban survival. My reasoning is this, I refuse to be a victim, but I also recognize the benefit of a certain mindset...
