I recently found a used S&W 37, very nice shooter and lite weight. I'm carrying the S&W on my waist and using my P238 as a BUG on my ankle.
Both are almost un-noticeable to see and carry.
I have both and like the Beretta much better. Both shoot great but the PX4 is the one I'm most accurate with.
Don't think you can go wrong with either one.
Have you done a search yet on the Sig bug?
From what I remember they are not the most reliable. Might check out http://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums/index.php for some good info.
Personally I've had great experiences with the S&W 22A and 22S.
I like my SubCompact PX4 much better than the SR9c it replaced. Carry's well and fits my hand well.

I've been carrying the PX4 more often lately than my P238 and can find nothing that I don't like about it. :)
I use a stainless steel wire brush to clean the carbon off the cylinder, along with some CLP. They make small ones about the size of a toothbrush.
Works for me.
My Dad has one that I've shot, no problems.
I've had shop owners recommend Bersa's over Sig and Walther's saying what a good deal they are for the money.
Actually I have a SS model spotted that I'm tempted to buy after Christmas. ;)
I could just about match what Peter said.
I found mine performs better with quality USA ammo and use nothing else.
Just make sure she understands the cocked and locked condition 1 that you have to use with this pistol. Also, range practice by flipping the safety on and off if this is her...
