I don’t own a 30-06 but I have two 9.3x62mm rifles (along with .308’s, 8x57’s, .45/70’s, a .375 and others).
I killed my biggest WTD here in WV and a Kudu in So Africa with the 9.3, they are the last guns I’d consider selling.
I have the Carbine in .223 and it thinks it's a varmint rifle. Your rifle is a real beauty and a shooter too.
I think CZ is really missing the boat by not chambering the 527 in .300 Blackout and 6.8SPC for small to medium sized game.
I believe that Bell owned more than one .275 Rigby rifle. Even a Mauser action can fail when you are out in the bush for months.
The Rigby company labeled their rifles as .275 to keep from being chambered in a German cartridge. Not real popular in the UK in that day n age.
Well "darn!" A #1 in .275 Rigby would just about put all my other hunting rifles out of a job. But a #1 in .44 magnum would be a neat little piece of artillery too...
I foresee some OT in my future.
Merely "adequate". You will be better off than most households which is a sad state of affairs.
Woefully inadequate for helping to defend the Republic. Endeavor to get another AR15 ASAP.
I don't "fawn over" mine. It shoots groups that are minute of deer for my hunting needs. It's easy to carry thru the woods, doesn't kick, cheap to shoot, not an expensive rifle.
It fills a fun niche in my line up.
I loaded up a batch of max Unique loads with a 200 gr XTP in .45 acp a couple years ago. I wouldn't call the results a "flash" in low light. It was more of a orange and black ball about the size of a grapefruit.
I'm loading 9mm with Hornady's max Unique recipe and the 124gr XTP but I haven't...
I've had two .44 Mag Marlins. The current one will shoot 2" groups at 50 yards with Hornady XTP 240gr bullets and iron sights. Can't stand scopes on a lever gun. I can regularly ding our 8" steel at 100 from kneeling or sitting with XS peeps and front sight. Both guns shoot better than...
Thanks guys.
The Whitworth has now been modified with the shotgun safety replaced by a bolt mounted flag safety. Which matches the Husqvarna above it.
Both carry and come to the shoulder like a 20ga shotgun.
I was walking thru a gun show in my wife's hometown when I stopped at a table with the usual .22 semi auto/.30-30 lever/12 ga fare and noticed the bottom rifle of this pair:
A Whitworth in .375 H&H that someone had shortened the forearm and added a receiver sight. In the back of my head I...
I've got a set of DD fixed sights on a rifle. They're very nice and yield an excellent sight picture. With an H1 between them I can simply tilt my head down for irons or use the dot alone in the upper half of the Aimpoint.
Nice rifle BTW!
The agency I work for issues Springfield XD .45 acp pistols with the TLR-1 and officers carry them in a Safariland holster. The State Police also issue pistols with weapon mounted lights and compatible holsters to their officers.
Not holding a light in front of you is old school technique...
i fell into the 9.3 fan club years ago. There are decent practice/deer/elk/plains game bullets available from Hornady, Speer, Lapua. And great premium bullets from Nosler, Barnes and Woodeigh. How many bullets do you need?
Like I mentioned earlier my friend had his suitcase with ammo...
