only time I ever had contact problems while shooting was back in Basic Training when the M-16 would blow all the gases from the chamber back in my eye and irritate it. Hard to see the 300m target when everything goes all swimmy.

Mine doesn't like anything that is just plain lead. I have ballard rifling, and for some reason it was throwing patterns more than groups. Switch to plated bullets, all better. No idea why. I typically load powder-puff .357's to plink with and 180 gr loads to take game with.

.357 mag not worth owning? That really depends on what you are looking to do with it. Mine has been used on everything from squirrel to whitetail inside of 100 yards - some heer would be comfortable to go further. And .30-30 is a pretty good plinking round - at $11.00/20 its still cheaper...
