    SHOT 2012 in a nutshell

Hey, we make a .40 AR (sort of like an AR)! Is there a problem with that??? ;) www.mycarbine.com

    .45 ACP AR 15s

Thureon Defense is making 2 models that are chambered in .45 ACP. One takes modified Uzi mags, the other uses Glock 21 mags. (yes, Hi-Cap mags are available for both) The upper and lower receivers are machined from aluminum bar stock, and other than the stock and grip, uses no plastic parts...

Help Me Pick a Husqvarna Mauser from these 5

Here's something to consider. What would you be able to sell one of them for? I have no idea if your budget would allow it... but what if you bought both of them, shot both of them, found the most accurate one of two.... and then sold the other one. (either a private sale or back to the...

CNN: Who will pay for Fast & Furious?

I hope the dealers were savvy enough to keep records of the conversations between themselves and the ATF agent(s) who authorized those sales. From what I've read, many of the dealers who sold the guns were suspicious, contacted the ATF for guidance, and were told by the agent to proceed with...

    Rock River LAR-9 Magazines

To answer your original question, the main modification required to turn an Uzi mag into a SMG mag is to add the mag catch slot for the Colt style mag release. (about an inch down from the top of the magazine) There are other "tweaks" that make them run better.... but that is the main one.

    SBR lever gun question

I don't have the data to say conclusively, but one difference is that the 150 and 170 gr. flat point bullets are shorter than the 220 and 240 gr. spitzer boattail bullets that JD Jones was trying to stabilize (at <1000 fps.). The OP will also have issues with loading density in the...

    9mm Pistol carbines

Thureon Defense has a new model that accepts Glock mags. Their price point is a little over your $500 budget ($690 for the Glock model) but the receivers are machined from 7075 alum. bar stock, so you're getting what you pay for. Here's a picture off of their website - www.mycarbine.com

    Tactical Tommy Goes to 7-11

You mean that you "tactically soiled yourself", right? Too funny!

Do you say "firearm" or "gun?"

I agree completely with this ^. "Weapon" is a less precise word that carries with it the implication that it is going to be used offensively. It lumps it into the same class as a sword, knife, tire iron, or hand grenade. I do admit to bending my vocabulary because of political...

What are the top 5 guns people like engraved?

SxS shotguns and double rifles. Both look unfinished without some sort of embellishment. That's not five.... oh well.

Give me some long range "novelty" gun options

Remington Rolling Block in .45-70? Probably not what you had in mind, though. A Sako TRG 42 might be closer to what you might be looking for. Chambered in .338 Lapua, it should reach right out there.

    baffle question

I saw a movie made by Remington.... probably made in the early 70s. It showed them shooting through a row of tires. The tires were hung in such a way that you were shooting through where the rim would normally be. It was kind of like shooting through a huge silencer. The sidewalls of the...

Forget practicality, can it be done?

I don't mean to get off the track too far, but if you could find those 200 - 220 gr. flat point bullets, you should be able to load down the 30-30 Win. to sub-sonic velocities. You might also take a look at the 32-20 WCF. I don't know exactly what bullet options you would have in 8mm, but...

Remington 700 Sent For Possible Repairs

Yes. Sometimes it helps, sometimes it doesn't. It all depends on the individual rifle and barrel. You can try it without risking much. If it doesn't work, you can always add forend pressure with AcraGlass, JB Weld, or a couple layers of tape.
