I carry a Seecamp .380, double action. It's size is comfortable for EDC. No safety, DA only and reliable. The R9 is a nice gun too.

I started out with a .32 Beretta Tomcat, a nice gun. I then handled a .32 Seecamp and moved up to that. I now carry a .380 Seecamp ($800) but it doesn't fit your criteria. So for the $400 allowence I would choose the .32 Seecamp. Here is a link to a comparison of pocket guns...

I own both a .32 and a .380. It is true that the .32 come with one mag and the .380 comes with two. You will not be disapointed in either of these guns.

I think your suspicions were founded. What I don’t understand is why they wouldn’t just explain to your sister from the beginning why they were meeting early and where. Given that, I think I still would have gone for the peace of mind the first time, but without the needless worry.
