I picked up the Smith and put on a Vortex Defender, could not be happier. Has not had one malfunction in approx. 300 rounds using CCI 40 grain and Hornady 30 grain ammo. One of my funniest handguns.
The Rack grades I've been seeing on the CMP Forum have been ROUGH! If i could not pick one out in person, I would wait for a Field or Service grade. YMMV
Both of the cylinders in my Flattop stainless were .450, they just got both back from Cylinderhone.net honed to .452 and it made a huge difference in accuracy.
"I bought my dad one for use on his farm & cattle ranch in the late 1960's.
A Winchester 9422M to be exact."
Didn't the 9422M get introduced in 1972? Either way the 22 wmr has proven very useful around the farm. A Biathlon Basic 7-2 in 22 mag has been the latest addition, very accurate.
Finally got scope mounted on my BB in 22 mag and shot yesterday, could not be happier with results. Due to mud could only shoot 25 yards, shot all ammo great but one hole groups with Hornady 30 grain vmax. Scope is Weaver V16 with Weaver high dual extension rings #49045.
Thanks for the responses, talked to nice young lady at EAA who told me pistol was made in 1995 and two letter date code confirms that. Was also told this pistol left EAA as a complete 38 Super, had someone state on another forum that he thought this was a parts gun.
Dave, yes this has the...
Picked up a matte blue Witness in 38 super and I'm not sure which model I have. It's a large frame DA/SA with adjustable sights, squared trigger guard, checkered on front and backstrap and on bottom of trigger guard. It has three holes factory drilled on left side of frame, beavertail and nice...
Been using a .22 mag for years in about the same situation you have described out to 150 yards. Marlin 882, Winchester 40 gr. HP's with a Weaver 3x9 has been poison on groundhog/ possum size varmints.
