I also got a bad batch of bulk Federals a few years ago. While shooting my Ruger MKII target 22 suppressed, I noticed some of the rounds did not even make it to the target and were actually falling on the ground before they even made it to the target. I then had one round fail to eject, when I...
You may want to make the part from O1 drill rod. It will be soft in it's raw state so it can be easily drilled and shaped, but once hardened will be plenty hard.
I broke the hammer spring on my early contender (pre safety). The lgs has Contender hammer springs but they are different than mine.
Will the new spring work in the old style hammer?
This is the spring the gun had...
Yes and they are all covered by the NFA just like the right side plate for an M2, they are considered machine guns by the BATFE even though they don't have a barrel and can not fire a perjectial! The machine gun part is what ever the BATFE deems it is!
During the "pandemic" I had extraction problems with CCI standard velocity ammo. At the time CCi seamed to use too much bullet lube, you could see it on the brass case. If I would wipe the lube off the case I had no problem. I never have the problem with any other ammo or with older or newer CCI...
I've had the best luck with the sweat box temp 80-90 degrees and humidity around 90 percent. Too much humidity will leave water beading on the parts diluting the LMF and leaving a blotchy finish.
I don't know, but I have seen 410 reamers with floating (live) pilots that are removable. The pilot is just a revolving sleeve attached to the reamer, and would not be hard for anyone with a lathe to make. FYI if I knew the specs I could turn out a pilot in a few minutes.
My 45-70 finish chamber reamer pilot is .447". My 45-70 roughing reamer has a floating pilot that measures .448". The floating pilot is replaceable and it wouldn't be a big deal to make one to fit the .410 bore.
You can darken brass with a used barrel cleaning patch. After you pull the first wet, dirty patch from the bore when cleaning, wipe the brass down and it will "age" instantly.
