Need Finish help on S&W 32-20 Revolver

Q, I've got a 32-20 similiar to yours. Mine was made in the early 1920's. It was blued and I shipped it back to Smith and they refinished it...very nice job. If memory serves me, it was about $125 or so, but the service department insisted on shipping at back overnight, so that was...

    Winchester 101 experiences

Vaherder, I plan on checking out the 725, but here's the deal... When the gun says BROWNING on it then a slimmer receiver design and lighter weight are wonderful. When it says WINCHESTER (even though they're built by one of the most prestigious small arms maker in the world), those...

    Winchester 101 experiences

phrogpilot, I'm certainly not an expert when it comes to gun fit. I'm assuming you know the basic fundamentals of mounting, holding, and shooting a shotgun. My advice would be to go to a local gun club and see if you can hold and shoot various types of shotguns and try to determine what is...

    Winchester 101 experiences

phrogpilot, I've been shooting on of the FN-built Winchesters (Platinum Sporting) for 3 years now. I think it's a great gun with build quality that rivals a Citori or 600 series Beretta. Browning does the warranty work. The Belgian-built 101s have no similiarities to the Japanese-built...

Has refinishing a gun ever been worth the money to you?

A long time ago (1973), I bought a S&W Model 1917 revolver from a local dealer for $50.00. The blue was completely worn and the barrel had some minor pitting, but it locked up tight and shot well. I sent it back to Smith and requested a blue job and advised them I was planning on carrying it...

Need a Winchester 101 #513059493 for my sons birthday...

Joebklyn, The FN-built Winchesters have been around for over 10 years now with many versions that have come and gone. I don't know which specific model you're looking for, but Zander's out of Baldwin, Illinois has the Sporting models in stock with either a 30" or 32" barrels. Zander's is...

    remington 1100's pro's and con's ?

Like Virginian, I've been shooting 1100s for over 30 years now and really like them. I presently own 3 of the Sporting models (12,20,28). IMO the Sportings are the best looking 1100 Remington has ever made..polished blue receiver and barrel, beautiful wood, and excellent reliability. My...

    New recoil pad recommendations

Ouncer makes a good point about adding weight... I have a 20 gauge White Lightning that was OK in the field, but shooting more than 50 rounds of skeet was no fun. I don't know squat about recoil pads, but a gunsmith/friend added a Kick-eez pad and it really helped.

    rem 1100 different types ?

The 1100 has been manufactured since 1963. There have been so many variations it would be difficult to list them all. Basically they can be divided into two categories..field and target (trap, skeet, and sporting). The field guns are usually worth less than the target models. Both field and...

Opinions on Browning Citori and 20 vs. 28ga?

There's a couple of of other alternatives you might want to check out if you got to have a 28... CDNN has the Browning 525 "feather" for $1399 in 28 gauge. Basically this is a Citori with an aluminum receiver and nicer wood. The frame size is the same, but it's much lighter than the steel...

    Trap loads vs Hunting loads

Definitely agree with DaveMc and Ouncer on this one... I always use some type of premium target load (AA, STS, Gold Medal) for all my upland hunting. They are the best ammunition on the planet and you can buy AA and STS at Wal Mart.

Opinions on Browning Citori and 20 vs. 28ga?

Lebowski, I wouldn't get a 28 gauge Citori and here's why... The frame size is the same as the 20 gauge, in fact the 28 gauge is actually heavier than the 20. I had a 28 gauge Citori sold it, bought a 20 gauge White Lightning, and haven't looked back. If I had the jack to buy 2, I'd...

    2 3/4 dram vs 3 dram

I try and keep it as simple as possible in 12 gauge: 7/8 oz #9's at 1150fps for skeet 1 oz #8's at 1150 for trap and sporting clays Both of these loads are equivalent to 2 3/4 dram Works for me....

good O/U without breaking the bank?

+1 on what Armed Bear said... The FN-built Winchesters are the best shotguns that nobody has heard of. I've been shooting one for the past couple of years (Platinum Sporting) and love it. Browning does the warranty work.
