The most important things to survive an encounter

I was going to post a Poll of what fellow THR member though of as the most important thing to surviving a situation where lethal force may be required in the ST&T. Then I realized that as far as I can tell in ST&T, training really doesn't if it requires a person to be physically fit. Risk...

    Effective coaching

Effective coaching isn't so much about a specific phrase, but understanding the different levels of shooters you are coaching. For a beginner one thing may move them forward, but telling the same thing to someone more advanced will be a waste of your time and theirs. Coaching requires...

Is gun ownership becoming a luxury?

I am single now but even when I was married, I still found money to do the things I love, and when you have an unemployed alcoholic wife, there isn't much money left for shooting but I still found a way, and at the time I was making less than I am now and paying more for rent. The vast majority...

    FEDEX Handgun Shipping

No they don't. But to think the people handling the packages don't know what is inside of them is silly. I know when I have firearm from S&W, Springfield etc.. I usually know what is in a box when I deliver it, unless it comes from Amazon.com, then who knows what it could be.

Is gun ownership becoming a luxury?

I would say guns are definitely not "becoming a luxury". I don't make a bunch of money, and in fact I don't make very much, about $31k/year, but I can still pay my bills, put 10% towards retirement, go golfing once a month, shoot 8-10 rounds of trap or skeet every month, put 2-300 rounds...

    Glock 19 Limp Wrist/Problem Update

If you want to avoid limp wristing a glock stop trying to. If it is that important to you, practice single/two hand malfunction clearing so if/when it happens you can get the thing back up and running fast. I absolutely trust my life to my G19, have 1300 rounds through it without a hitch...

Do you bring a long gun when you travel?

I like the point that gun folk prepare for using their gun in self defense far more than they prepare or take precautions against far more likely threats, often health related but that is a different subject. I do carry a long gun when I travel. But the more important stuff is the spare parts...

Clay shooting : choosing my first gun - Suggestions?

One thing guys are talking about here is fit. It doesn't matter which off the shelf gun you choose, it is designed to fit a majority of shooters adequately. If you are a goofy proportioned fella like myself, a $2500 gun isn't likely to fit you any better than a $350 gun. 6'2" tall with a 6'7"...

CCW opinion Glock 26 vs RIA 1911

Carry the Glock. I am not a 1911 fanboy, and am only a fan of Glocks because form follows function, and Glocks work on a more regular basis than most any other pistol. Also, I carry concealed, I don't care what it looks like, it is concealed.

    Tommy Tactical

Honestly, I have never seen anybody show up at the range wearing a chest rig or even any camo other than realtree or mossyoak. Not against training for how you may fight if the event arises, but I get the sentiment of stop trying to make yourself look cool. Cops and the military aren't cool...

Clay shooting : choosing my first gun - Suggestions?

I say get a pump gun. Need not be expensive, and save some money for a few cases of shells for now. For what my club charges for targets and how much my reloads cost me the price difference between a $2500 o/u and my 870 express is a little over 7000 trigger pulls. With what I have budgeted...

Escape from New York: Moving out of gun unfriendly areas

Most states that have bad gun laws suck across the board in the freedom department. If you are willing to trade financial gain for liberty, I can't help you. I could make a bunch more money if I moved somewhere else, but why would I want to. Here are all the states ranked, the map doesn't...

    Is shot placement everything

Got a few typical responses like a perfect shot with a small gun is better than a miss with a big gun, but really? How many people in reality are going to go from perfection to complete failure by upgrading from a .22 or similar to a 9mm or even a .380. I personally know a few guys that carry...

    Anger and guns

My advice is GET OUT NOW, get a part time job just to pay for rent, food and electric. if you need to, get on food stamps. Don't ever think that the situation may not repeat itself, if you are ever in fear call 911 if time allows. As a law abiding citizen don't fear law enforcement, things...
