Excellent points. I was looking at it more like being the Chi Chi Rodrigues of shooting. This is showing my age a bit. Chi Chi had a technically horrible swing, but did it wrong, the same way every time and had a nice pro golf career.
I like your thought process WAY better. Thanks.
Thanks for the quick response Bobson.
I'm a little surprised by the idea of using a sled for sight-in as well. I would have originally assumed you'd want the foibles and idiosyncrasies if the shooter at hand?
But I suppose that if I site in with sled, the goal is then to shoot like i was...
Hi Sal,
Sorry sir, my old tumblers aren't going any where. :) As my garage can attest I never get rid of any of my hobby stuff. Never know when I'll need it.
Kidding aside. When I retire and have time I'll probably dig out a lot of the old hobby stuff, dust it off and start doing more, so I...
Good morning all.
While I sit here waiting impatiently for my Remington 700 to get delivered I started to ponder a newbie question.
Last weekend I was at the range and chatting with a guy shooting another .308. He was testing handloads. I'm getting into doing my own hand loads so started...
Hi Sal,
The B comes in 2 configs, 2 regular canisters (same that fit the A model) or 1 double capacity. Can I assume you're talking about 50 in a regular canister size?
I have to go dig my old tumblers out of storage.
Thanks again for the suggestions and advice. Lots to learn!!!
Great thread on the paper clip test. Thanks for sharing. It's amazing how hard it is to find a paper clip when you need one. Seems like the brass is very smooth so I think I'm good there.
Here's a pic of one of the worst...
Thanks all for the responses.
Sounds like the consensus is:
A) Small canister style will work ok for Rifle.
B) Bigger handles more volume.
I'll probably go ahead with the bigger. I load a lot of 9mm and the volume will be important. But I've got several smaller canister types I...
Hi again all.
I've been dry tumbling my pistol brass and it works fine. Not looking for ultra precise loads for IPSC shooting.
BUT with the move to load .308 (hopefully for competition) I think I want to go to wet tumbling. Looking at several wet tumbling videos it seems that people with...
Thanks all. With the uniformity of the size, shape and location of the nick I'm guessing something to do with either extraction or as it's getting shoved up a ramp.
I'll load and fire.
Steve
Hi all. Very newbie here.
I just bought a decent .308 and have stumbled on a bunch of LC Brass and a good (great?) price. 1.25 a pound. ~1400 pieces for $50.
A small percentage of it is pretty well thrashed with big dents or cuts on the rim of the neck.
99% of it has a small mark...
