    New CZ Varmint .22 LR

I too recently acquired a CZ 457 Varmint .22 and was thinking about another one in 17HMR. Will have to postpone it for awhile since I bought a new car today:(. Anyway....the Varmnint is a very nice rifle. I did change the trigger for a Jard 10 oz. Good trigger, but I have to do some...

Where can I find 17 Hornet brass??

Looked on AmmoSeek.com and found lots of factory ammo. I'm bidding on a Savage Walking Varminter since I can't afford an Anschutz 1771 @ $2500. Ouch!

    Offhand shooting practice

In my humble opinion, all shooters, especially hunters and home defenders, should practice off-hand shooting. I should, but rarely follow my own advice. Can't count the number of squirrels and rabbits I've missed because my off-hand shooting is substandard. Critters will not cooperate until...

    17 Hornet rifle questions??

I'm considering buying a 17 Hornet rifle and asking you guys to provide useful insight as you always do. I ran into a guy at my rifle range last week and he had some impressive rifles in 17 Hornet caliber that ignited my rifle buying fever. I had a 22 Hornet, a very good rifle, but sold it...

Tell me why I shouldn’t get a Browning BLR in .308.

Don't know if the Browning BL-22 has much in common with the .308 version, but if so, here's my experience. I bought a new BL-22 and shot one box of shells thru it. I hated the trigger/lever assembly design and couldn't wait to get rid of it. I sold it immediately and bought a Marlin 39A...

    Scheels Sporting Goods

The Scheels in Kansas City, like all shops, has pluses and minuses. It is a great place for handling lots of firearms without a hall monitor giving you unwanted advice. Also get to handle a look at many high quality rifles and shotguns. Staff are helpful when you ask for it. I've found...

    CZ 457 Varmint 17HMR??

I'll add something here as an FWI. The reason I prefer the heavier barrel is because I have a tremor that makes controlling the lighter rifles a challenge. Otherwise I would get an American. All of my varmint rifles are heavy beasts that can be off putting for other guys. But, I can nail...

    CZ 457 Varmint 17HMR??

I would like to hear from guys with experience shooting this rifle. I have the .22 version of this model and it has been excellent. There is no reason to expect otherwise from the 17HMR caliber, but I like hearing from guys with experience. I've shot my friend's American version and it's...

    Savage model 25

I had a Savage Model 25 .22 Hornet Varminter with a laminate stock. Bought it new. Very pretty gun, but It would not load from the magazine. Took it to my gunsmith and he had the same problem. Sent it back to Savage. After a reasonable wait, I called and the candid CS guy told me they made a...

    Gun show loophole?

Gubmnt passed laws many years ago requiring a location seperate from your home; this to get rid of as many "kitchen table" FFL gun dealers as possible. Such laws were to make it easier for the ATF to police them. Prior to that, friends of mine, retiring police officers, would get the FFL to...

    Gun show loophole?

Of course the end goal for anti-gunners is UBCs. Once that is established, the ATF will be able to write the rules as they see fit and (as it is done with the use of the FISA court, the DOJ, the FBI, etc.,) selectively use the rules against people they don't like.
