    FFG Triple 7 in handguns??....

I've tried both FF and FFF Triple 7 in my 58 Rem. While I haven't chronograghed it yet, my accuracy seems to be noticeably better with FF.

    cleaning with Triple 7

The only reason I was considering using something like Hoppe's #9 instead of the typical water clean-up is that with water I have to make sure to get all the water out of every crack and crevice. With Hoppe's #9 (or equivelant) if I miss a little, no harm done. When only doing a partial...

    cleaning with Triple 7

Does anyone know, if using only Triple 7 powder in a percussion revolver, can you clean the gun like a conventional revolver (ie. with Hoppes #9 and a petroleum based lube), instead of the usual water clean-up with a non-petroleum based lube? Thanks for any info.

    Initial results with Triple 7

Ok, I tried Triple 7 in my Uberti 5 1/2" Rem 58 over the weekend. Some early observations... Tried ff first, definetly got the "double crack" that others had spoke of, reminded me of the "poof-boom" of some flintlocks. But first six shot were in 2 1/4" at 23 yards, from a rest. Tried fff...

    Rammer problem solved on 58!

George, you did say to leave the cylinder in (sorry if my explanation wasn't very clear). Thanks Again!

    Rammer problem solved on 58!

Thanks for all your help guys! As mentioned in two threads below ("Newbie question on 58" and "Jointed cylinder pin") I have a 5 1/2" Remington 58 that after removing the loading lever screw, I couldn't get the loading lever and rammer to slide out. I took George's advice, but carried it one...

    Jointed Cylinder Pin

Old Dragoon, the loading lever and rammer move smoothly. I'll try to check to see if the frame appears pinched. Thanks

    Newbie question on Rem 58

I'll have to try again, for some reason (most likely operator error) after removing the screw the lever and rammer don't slide out. Thanks

    Jointed Cylinder Pin

Thank You Old Dragoon, I may take you up on your very kind offer. First I'd like to play with my new 58 a little, I still haven't figured out how to get the loading lever and rammer removed. I removed the screw but can't slide the parts out, I'll play with it a little more. Thanks

    Newbie question on Rem 58

I read the recommended post. What I'm still unclear about is, if the cylinder pin can't be removed does that mean that the loading lever and rammer can't be removed also? Thanks

    Jointed Cylinder Pin

So if the cylinder pin can't be removed, does that mean that the loading lever and plunger can't be removed also? Thanks

    Newbie question on Rem 58

I have a new Rem 58 with 5 1/2" barrel. I realize that with this short barrel the cylinder pin can't be removed, but does that also mean that I can't remove the loading lever and plunger? Thank You

    Rem 58 ?

Thanks Guys! I checked the pages in my book, it's a 2004. Thanks for the clarification on the cylinder safety notches.

    Four (Soon Five) Rugged Rugers

I'm very new to this (see Rem 58? post) and just bought my first percussion revolver. I seriously considered the Ruger and hope someday to own one. But at this point I went with my heart and bought a Uberti 58 Rem with 5 1/2" barrel. While I shoot regular cartridge revolvers (Rugers and Smiths)...

    Rem 58 ?

Beartracker, yes, I'm very new to blackpowder revolvers. I saw some of Mec's posts on another site and they were so interesting to me I bought his book about a month ago. Well, to make a long story short, I bought a Uberti 5 1/2", 1858 Remington last week. I haven't shot it yet due to...
