Need your opinion on which .22 to buy.

Get your 10/22 and install aperature sights (like Tech-Sights sells). This will give your 10/22 the same sight picture as an AR15, and makes for a good training rifle, as well as just a great all-around fun and more accurate 22 (in my opinion).

    ar 15 optics

I wear glasses and am in my 50's, but still prefer the sturdiness and dependability of good ol' iron sights on my rifles. With a little practice, I find them plenty quick on target. And I can shoot 2 moa groups at 250 yards prone, (my standard of excellence). "Two weeks after the balloon...

Those with AR's with 16" barrels with 1:7 twist I need your input

When shooting my Bushmaster 20" HBAR with 1 in 9 twist from prone position, with iron sights I will typically get 3" - 4" groups (10-shots). That's with Federal M-855 and Serbian PPU-M855. Could probably improve on that a bit with scope, bench and sandbags . . . but I never shoot like that :D

Would just like to add that you will learn more than most rifle owners have learned in a lifetime by attending one weekend at an Appleseed Shoot, (which are being held in almost every state nationwide now). Also, .22lr's work great at an Appleseed, as the first day of instruction is all...

    Ammo Shock!

All I can say is - shoot more .22, and save the 'good stuff' for that rainy decade.
