    Whats your favorite Spring/Summer Carry

Mine was a S&W 637 (J-frame, .38spl, Airweight, exposed hammer). I liked it, but it was bulky, despite being very light. Now, I carry a Ruger LCP.

Ok. Really wierd and stupid question time.

Little known fact: George Washington's elite special operatives carried these.

Kel-Tec FRB - Good Gun or Gimmick?

I like the idea of the RFB, but for CQB/HD in the suburban environment where I live, I prefer a 12ga with a load sufficient for home defense but with less risk of overpenetration than .308.

    Shooting the Lee-Enfield

SMLE stands for "Short, Magazine, Lee-Enfield." It was first used in 1904 to apply to a newly developed rifle that was shorter than the 1895 Magazine, Lee-Enfield (MLE) and longer than the 1896 Lee-Enfield Carbine (LEC). In that sense, the No4 fits the profile of the SMLE, but the No5 would...

    Friend asked me what .45??

I'm not the world's best shot with a pistol, but if you put an XD in my hands, it seems to turn me into a crack shot. I know some people say the same thing about Glocks and 1911s. I owned a 1911, and I shoot my friend's .45 Glock frequently. Maybe it's just the way my hands are shaped, but my...

    Shooting the Lee-Enfield

Nitpick: The No4 is not an SMLE. The SMLE was redesignated as the No1 rifle, and the SMLE designation never applied to the later No4. :) That said, I have never been uncomfortable shooting my No1MkIII, except the one time I failed to shoulder it firmly enough. I had a light bruise for a while.

    Brand New 1911 horror story!!!

I forgot to snap the retention strap on my IWB holster once. I went to get out of my car, and I heard a clattering sound. There, on the ground, was my 5-day old S&W 637. I think I caught the grip against the door frame as I stood up. She fell directly on the back of the grip, where the stock...

saw blade and plain edged pocket knife for 11 year old.

I do hope he enjoys whatever knife you get him! I had a lot of fun when I was little, whittling sticks and cutting branches to make my own little outdoor shelters. I used a Victorinox SAK to do most of that, though I did briefly own a Buck when I was 10. Being 10, I lost it when it fell out of a...

    Bersa thunder 380

I have a Bersa Thunder 380 and I had a Bersa Thunder 9mm Ultra Compact. I love both. I sold the 9mm to cover some unexpected bills and because it wasn't as concealable as my S&W 637. I couldn't hide it easily, and I already owned a non-concealable 9mm (S&W 5903, Gwinnett County PD trade-in). It...

    .45 caliber

I've owned a 1911, and I want another one. I've never shot better with a handgun than I did with an XD in .45ACP. I love the round. I love the way the recoil feels (more of a "shove" than the "snap" I expect from .380 and 9mm). That said, I place a very high value on the concealability of my...

As You Walk Out The Door: What gun goes with you today?

Ruger LCP in a slim pocket holster, rear right pocket where many people would keep a wallet. With colder weather coming, my S&W 637 may return to my IWB holster at 4 o'clock.

    a good .22lr rifle?

I have a Ruger 10/22, a Savage MkII, and a Marlin/Glenfield 60. I love the Ruger and will never sell it, but that's because it's the first gun I ever fired, and it was my father's rifle. As far as accuracy is concerned, I can shoot much tighter groups with both the Savage and the Marlin. The...

    .380 ammunition?

For penetration and for positive functioning in my (and many other) compact .380 pistols, I prefer to carry FMJ. When I can afford it, I have also carried the Corbon Pow'R Ball JHP ammo with the polymer ball in the tip to ensure proper feeding while also preventing the round from clogging with...

    Banned SKS help

Tell your friend that his SKS really is banned, and now that you've posted here on the forum, the BATFE knows about it and will track him down through you. Fortunately, I have a Class 2J import and production license, so if he wants to sell it to avoid legal trouble, I will be glad to help...

SIG eliminated from ATF trials. S&W Vs. Glock.

Also, keep in mind that shooter-induced stoppages are the shooters fault; however, some gun designs are more forgiving than others. I only keep a pistol if it proves to be reliable, but I've observed novice shooters causing jams by limp wristing one of my pistols (specifically, my 1911), only...
