Need loads for antique winchester in 32-20. Lots of powder, no data

I'll have to go back and look at what I did for mine, and I'm not at home right now. I have a rifle manufactured in 1897. Really leery of messing it up. I settled on Trailboss, and I think a 100g cast. I frankly don't remember the grain, but will find out.

    Trap/Skeet shell reloading savings?

I've not loaded 20 or 12 ga in years. It has been way more economical to buy them. Now I also don't shoot as much as I used to, but that's just life. I still have components, well mostly, I gave away about 10k 12 gauge hulls, but I really only consider loading for the 28. 28 and 410 are...

    7MM-08 Questions

My wife shoots a Win 70 featherweight. It is easy on the shoulder. I run 140 Accubond and RE-15. I've had no problems with it other than the fact that the rifle is very picky. Was running a 140 SGK and it shot three inch groups. Ran some AB loads in it and had five warm-up loads before I...

    32-20 M1 Carbine equivalent

I've dabbled with it a little. You can probably find the thread on here. I've only reloaded 100 of these, and haven't shot more than ten of them. I have an old Winchester 73 manufactured in 1897. I got the idea that I wanted to shoot it, but didn't want to blow it up. I loaded with...

    Reloder 22 temperature sensitivity

I also use RL22 in my 7mm mag, and it gives me 1/4 - 3/8" groups when I do my part. I've not had any issues with it temp wise, but here in Texas it can be 80 degrees during deer season.

Lee Value 4 Hole Turret Press

I load all rifle on mine, and no handgun (with the exception of 32-20). Load up to 338 WM, with absolutely no problems.

Well, I measured mine, and I was completely wrong. It's a 24" octagon barrel.

    32-20 help

Sorry it's taken so long. I finally had time to set down and work up a few loads for the old 73. Being cautious with it because of the blackpowder status. 115g cast lead over 2.2 gn of Trailboss. Gun fired fine, and the bullets went downrange. I don't have a chrony so I don't really have an...

    32-20 help

Finally found a friend that had some SPP. So I'm in business. I'll update this post as I go.

    32-20 help

That is interesting. Now you have my interest. I need to do a little researching. Mine definitely has the 30" octagonal barrel. I do believe that mine is marked for smokeless powder, although I'll need to pull it out and look this evening. Now, I've got to find some dang small pistol...

    32-20 help

Well, I actually got my bullets in today from Brownells a little early. I've clearly had a hell of a brain fart. The Lee dies I got do not have the factory crimp die, just resizing, expanding and seating. I'm looking online, and it appears that the factory crimp dies in 32-20 are either...

    32-20 help

Wow, Thank you all for the great information. I found some 100 gr RN at Brownell's. Waiting on them to come in. They should be here in about a week. To those who asked, my dies are Lee. Brass is Starline. Sitting here looking at them in the box sitting in the corner of the office.
