Ruger SR 22 pistols any good?

I have one, and no problems with it so far. It's been good to me.

    Your Home Protection Strategy?

I have a good, alert dog, motion lights, hardened doors and I always have a gun on my hip.

Thin suede IWB holster? Where are they?

I see these all the time in the holster section of many gun stores. I prefer a stiffer one myself that doesn't close up when you draw the gun. Makes for easier re-holstering.

Sad news in the holster world

That is sad news. Mark was one of the good guys. My condolences to his family.

    You can't own that -- it's dangerous!

I agree. I'd love a suppressed .22 caliber pistol but can't afford it.

Is Shooting IDPA Training or Just Another Action Pistol Game?

I've never shot IDPA, but would like to. It's a 120 mile drive to the nearest range where IDPA is held. I have had some realistic training, though. I did shoot one USPSA match last month with my carry gun. I used it to hone my shooting skills instead of blasting away as fast as possible...

    Favorite holster for Glock G19?

A good quality IWB holster is great for concealed carry any time of the year. During colder months, when you can wear coats, sweaters, and other heavier items of clothing, you can use an OWB quite easliy. Of course, if you are willing to dress around the gun and wear longer shirts, either...

    New gun poll?

You mentioned the PF9, but have you considered the Ruger LC9? Mine is a sweet shooting little gun.

    Handgun for older lady

I had a similar discussion with my mother who is the same age. She had a P89 but was unable to work the slide at all. I suggested that she get a small revolver. She then proceeded to show me her .32 snubbie revolver. A small revolver would be a good choice. If you reload, you can make up...

If I Tumble "SLOWLY" Enough... Is It Safe To Tumble Loaded Cartridges?

I don't go outside because I am afraid of being hit by a meterorite, but I have tumbled live rounds before. :) I had a bunch of .45 ACP and a few had been handled by someone with sweaty hands and left fingerprints that had been there for years. I tumbled them for about 30 minutes. I...

what handgun range to shoot at for HD

Sam1911 said it best. Multiple ranges are what you need for self defense shooting. You can not go wrong with mastering the basics of handgun shooting. It also depends on the handgun. A small .380 isn't the one to use for long shots.

How do you describe yourself as a shooter?

I voted handgunner, but also shoot rifles. Haven't shot a shotgun in years, but need to remedy that.

how many guns do you take to the range

I always take my CC weapon and shoot a hundred or so rounds out of it. A .22lr is also included. After that, it depends on what my purpose is.
